I had my RN BSN degree back in 2002, got a job offer but did not pass the NCLEX the 1st time around. I needed money to pay my mortgage and support my family stat so I had to turn to a different career back then. Now it's been a few years passed I did not use my degree but I would like to go back and get a job in nursing but I don't know where to start because I've had no actual job experience in the past as a nurse. Do I retake the NCLEX, take a refresher course (where can I find such course?), take a clinical course??... Anybody with similar situations and know how to solve this problem please help! Any advice is truly appreciated!

Did you pass the NCLEX? Did you keep a current license? If those answers are yes, then probably a refresher course would be indicated. If you let you license lapse or never obtained a license, then your state BON would be the folks to question.

You first must concentrate on NCLEX. Contact your BON and talk to someone about re-applying for NCLEX. They are the ones to tell you how to do that. If you need to take a referesher course, they will let you know. Every state has diffferent rules about the length of time in-between NCLEX that you can wait, etc.
One of our members has a very successful study plan she offers to help people pass NCLEX.
