I want to complete the RN to MSN quickly, like 2 terms, if possible. I know from reading on here that if you want to finish the BSN quickly, you need to do C228 early so that you can start and finish c229 in one term. Does this also apply to if I want to finish the rn-to-MSN in 2 terms? Maybe 3 if 2 isn't possible. I know from reading on here that finishing the BSN portion in one term is possible.
My degree plan defaulted to having c228 one of my first classes. However, after talking with my mentor, she acted like I had moved the classes around or something and said "some classes have prerequisites" and she moved c228 way down the list.
Is she right that c228 now has prerequisites? Or is she just throwing roadblocks in my way and I need a new mentor? Where can I see which classes have prerequisites and what they are?
Or is it not important to finish c229 before you start the MSN portion? I don't want to have to be sitting around for a while not progressing. The website makes it look like the RN to MSN is just one big path, not broken into BSN and MSN portions, even though some classes definitely come from one degree or the other.
Please help, WGU vets. Thanks in advance.

Generally speaking, never tell your program mentor your intentions of finishing the BSN in one term. Once they hear this, some mentors will say and do whatever they can to slow your progress the hell down.
Just keep quiet and move through the coursework quickly. The faster you complete your courses, the more cooperation you'll receive from the mentor in accelerating your course load.
Does the BSN portion have to be completed a term before beginning the MSN portion anyway? I was under the impression the RN-to-MSN was done as one solid flow and did not have to be broken up. I even read that in the program students are not even awarded the BSN during the middle of the program unless they specifically request it.

I also would advise you not to tell your mentor you are trying to go super fast. I think they are giving a lot of push back tot he mentors to stop that lately and there seems to be a lot of pushing to slow down. I think your best bet is to keep completing your classes so they have to move another one up for you. I have asked to move the order of classes around a bit and got some pushback, but was able to do in the order I wished with a little insisting. If your mentor is not willing to open assesments or pas for you, Id request a new one. We are afterall paying for this experience and need to have some control over our destiny (within reason). I am pretty thankful my mentor isnt one of the turtles.

If you start out on the BSN track and want to switch to MSN, you can't switch mid-term - you have to wait until the end of your current term. But once you're in the MSN track, it doesn't have to be broken up.
And yes, my understanding is that they don't award the BSN by default, just the MSN at the end, though they do offer the BSN certificate upon request for those who need it for employment purposes or whatever.

You do get the BSN in the middle and it's still being offered. I see people with their BSN diploma awarded pretty much every day in the facebook groups. Mentor will tell you which class is the last class for the BSN and then they apply for the diploma for you.

That depends on your mentor, some have been able to let people switch mid term, while others have said you ahve to wait. There is not much consistancy with the mentors.
Yeah. "If you don't like the answer you get, ask someone else" seems to be good overall advice for WGU.
