i've just recently decided i'd like to try travel nursing.
i have a CA & NV licence & experience in ER & critical care.
i "wanna go to Hawaii" ...but am hesitant to commit to longer than 4 weeks.
are there many options out there for me.
a colleague recommended american mobile & i think i have to do 13 weeks for them. any inside advice?
Have you checked into driving to California, dropping the car off at the shipyard and flying out of LAX? We were able to pick our car up in San Francisco when it arrived. Maybe you don't have the time or want to drive all that way, but it may save a little on the shipping charge. When are you scheduled to start?

The 11th of June
That's just around the corner. What Island are you going to?? What hospital are you working for? If you are going to Ohau and living in Wikiki you won't have a problem without a car for a while. Do the weekend rental specials every other week and drive around the island. If you are only staying for 13 to 26 weeks you may not need a car.

I am staying on the Big Island-Kona and they do not hsve public trasportation. Kona Community Hospital
As I mentioned before, Hawaii was my favorite island to visit. Didn't live or work there much. Did an agency shift in an ICU that wasn't too bad but the race to and from the plane from Ohau wasn't too good. They did work on island time though and were not too upset by my being almost late. Good luck and let us know how it is there now.
I have sent out reciprocity papers with a check to Hawaii. I can hardly wait for that license. I am starting my 27 week assignment next Tuesday ad am very excited to plan for Hawaii as my next port of call as I term it.Aloha!!!!

I am an RN with 18 yrs. exp. Med/surg/oncology mainly. I haven't traveled yet. I have asked companies about HI. I cannot get any of them to even work with me for an assignment. They bait and switch. Or just say the license takes to long to get. You will not make any money etc...can you give me any advise?

Okay I will. I still think it would be cheaper to ship mine there verses renting one. They are wanting 1800.00 to ship mine from Indiana, and 2400.00 for a rental car. What would you do? Talk to you later.
