Hello! I am considering Walden University Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program. I was wondering if anyone else is going to Walden University and also if anyone has heard anything (good or bad) about this program. Any advice or comments? Thank you,

Hi all,

I do attend Walden, the PMHNP. I am in my next to last class. If you have any questions feel free. ? Walden and other online programs will be mandated in 2019 toprovide clinical placement sites.

As of 2019 the new accrediting standards of the CCNE required these programs to provide the proper clinical support to their students (1). This is a major win the nurse practitioner student community.

Too many schools (not just Walden) had the students find their own preceptor which was very difficult for many. You can absolutely do you clinicals at your place of employment. I did on my off hours, and the preceptor was not my boss/manager/supervisor in any capacity.

Hello,

I am unable to pm you because I am new to the board. How have your experience been? I’m assuming you have completed the program from the last time you posted. What classes did you take together or recommend not taking together? How were the classes set up? Everything online? Are test proctored? If so would I have to go to a proctored center or can it be proctored at home? Thanks in advance.

HI there,

I would like to know how your PMHNP at walden is doing.  I am very interested in the course.

Walden is a joke.  There are no admission standards.  It is simply a diploma mill.  You apply and you are in.

If you can't get into a real school, apply to Walden.  I personally know 10 people who are in the Walden NP Program.  And each one is going there because they couldn't get accepted at the real school in our area.

But go ahead, give them your money, they'll take it!

And, no, Walden will not help you find a clinical placement.  You are on your own there.

This is true. They and other for profits are leading to a downfall of the profession by oversaturation of the market (they take anyone and graduate THOUDANDS of NPs a year) and by making us look like a joke to other medical professionals.
