Walden FNP August 2017

Published

I have been accepted to the FNP program starting on August 28, 2017. I would love to connect with others who will be on this journey with me!

Not sure how to message you in this but would love to join.

I just finished Walden FNP program.. Start getting preceptors now because it is very difficult. Get a Leik book and start reviewing for boards. Just a FYI//

I live in Ohio but am licensed in PA. An RN, whose son is friends with my son went thru Walden and graduated in 2016. She had good things to say and English isn't her first language. She's now back in school working on her DNP!

I have CRNP friends that I contacted last year and they both said they'd be happy to precept me. One is a Woman's Health CRNP!!!

Also just discovered that I was awarded financial aid by checking the MyFinAid portal on our Walden homepage! I'm getting SO excited!!!

No fee, no essay, no references, no CV, only BSN transcript, no GRE, "decision" in two days. Sketched me out.

I didn't know it was a for profit, but it makes sense.

Why do you feel the need to bash this program? I am personally happy with the program I've chosen. I've got colleagues who are CRNP's some who did brick and mortar and some who went with an online program. NOT ONE of them have said anything negative to me about my choice of schools.

I personally know a Walden FNP grad. Didn't seem to hamper her ability to get a full-time job locally after completing the program once she passed boards!

RuralNurseRN- How are things going with your Walden NP program? I also work M-F 8-5 and I have been toying with the idea of pursing Walden's adult/gero program. Is the program do-able on top of a 40+ hour work week? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

Everyone is different. There will be some people that succeed. The requirements to be accepted are a joke. I am not bashing the people that go there because the school doesn't necessarily make you or break you. We all should be concerned of schools like this because we are flooding the market with people that maybe aren't the "best". It makes our profession look bad. There is a reason these other schools require a 3.0 minimum, references and an essay.

Specializes in Home Health, Geriatrics, Women's Health, Addiction.

Currently in the adult geriatric program and was working full time 8-5 at first. I did up to two classes while full time but dropped down to part time when I took on three classes. In the home stretch right now, about to go into second clinical course and there is no way for me to work full time. There is just too much information and reading to absorb. I know someone who petitioned to take two clinical courses together and she said it nearly killed her.
