Wake Tech Spring 2017 Start

Published

Anyone submitting an application to the nursing program at WTCC this upcoming July for spring 2017? Wanted to connect with others who may be in my shoes. I'm still working on some prerequisites (TEAS and CNA) but hope to finish them up by May. I will be transferring most of my prerequisites in from another school.

Hey everyone, little update. Got an email back from bw and she said for fall 2016 they had an acceptance of 72 new (non 2nd entry) students, and currently there are 70 accepted students for spring 2017.

My heart knew I wouldn't get in this semester lol. So good luck to all of you others.

Thanks for the update! So does this mean that 70 is all that is being accepted this semester aside from people who are re entering?

No she said it varies each semester but it is usually in the 70's.

Thanks for the update. I don't know what she meant by that....hmmm. :nailbiting: There were a total of 96 accepted AND alternates for Fall 2016. I'm still waiting on my phone call!! ;):sarcastic:

When she said 72, that was the amount of new applicants. There where 98 seats but the 26 spots went to 2nd entering students, so people who failed/dropped NUR111 or went to another school and wanted to transfer into NUR111 at Wake.

That's not was I was told. Didn't the nursing dept say that they don't hold seats for students that want re-entry? So, if someone fails NUR 111, they would have to wait until it's offered again and that's a year. Is that not right???

If you go onto the nursing blackboard thing there is a handbook in there and you can look up what it says about re entry. They have to talk to the nursing head. I was just browsing last week and was curious about how many actual new applicants where accepted for fall after reading the handbook and she said 72. Do I think that's fair? Absolutely not but I don't think we have any choice.

So wait did she say that basically there are no more spots for alternates..... :((( my heart just broke

I just email BW cause i was freaking out and i hadn't bothered her in weeks lol this is her response "Currently, you are alternate #12 with 70 accepted. At this time I have not been notified of additional seats, but I am still hopeful for additional seats since it is still time before the start of the program in January. The Nursing Department will notify me when they are certain that we can accept more students for the Spring 2017". I remember at orientation they mentioned that depending if more space becomes available more people would be admitted. I am trying to stay hopeful but also looking into phlebotomy classes just in case

When I asked what were the chances of more seats becoming available she replied with this :) "I believe there is a great possibility of additional seats for new students so I would still be hopeful. The Nursing Department handles re-entries (returning students to NUR 111) and always keeps some seats available for possible re-entries." Stay hopeful ladies, and that is coming from someone who put all her eggs in one basket.....so no back up plan here :nailbiting:

So have we confirmed that the alternate list has moved 15 spots?

From the original orientation #s? i think its 16 spots because I was #28 now I am #12 :)
