I do have a question that i have been really wanting to know about when it comes to nursing program...... after taking all my classes needed in order to get in the program i understand that portion of it when it comes the to the program.... and so forth.. my question is.. well in my C.C we are put on a waiting list.. when we choose to apply for it due to the fact the only reason it is competitive i assume is our school or other schools just dont have enough staff to get this all going for everyone so that would be the reason for the list... i am assuming..
What i am wanting to know exactly is, is it a guarantee to be put in the program? for example lets say there are a list of 100 people and 1-30 people are picked at a time in order to go through the program... and lets say i am waiting, since i am "#31" so to speak... when it comes to that time where they are going back to the run down with the list starting from 31 and so forth and it is my turn finally is it then at that time i have the opportunity to be in the program now?
When wanting to be in the nursing program etc, is it just Numbers waiting on the list?
The only reason why i am asking is first off my family is all in the medical field and i dont want to be the only person that does something else...... BUT do not get me wrong Nursing is something i honestly feel that will be very good for me and something i am realllllly looking forward too... I just really want a better understanding..
The only thing i should probably say is, or what i am worried about, AND i should probably not be worrying about this at all, is just that i am kind of new and not saying that i DONT, but i dont want to take all the classes and extra classes and have no idea whether i will be in or not.....
And i am assuming it is a bit easier than this? the way my thoughts are toward this... but when meaning guarantee in the nursing program is if as long as i stay on the list and continuesly stay on the list i should be fine and just wait till my time comes?
Hope to hear from you guys soon
Thank you

Once you have been put on the waiting list you are usually guaranteed a spot in the nursing program. The downfall with a waiting list is that it usually takes a few years to get in... I was put on the waiting list in December of 2009 and got a letter saying I was guaranteed entry for the fall of 2012. It also said I was a "alternate" for the fall of 2011, but it doesn't look like I will be in until 2012. It may vary from school to school though.

Thanks Comm. No problem at all..
yea i could see that being the downfall but see the thing is im most likely going to apply to the program at different C.C not just the one i am at.. now i would assume that being on the waiting list there would people that decide to get off the list than obviously that would allow you to move up from the list...
See i was going through thinking that this was all like a huge type of pre-med deal of whether being accepted or not due to grades etc.. but i am getting the gist of it.. i mean i am a student that makes A's etc as long as i am working hard and trying as i am suppose to.
I had went through a situation with school a while back and i ruined the whole opportunity of trying to do well in a way, and later on just thinking really hard i didnt want to be a drop out etc... now that i switched C.C. they are giving me the opportunity to take my classes over again because i had told them in person that i can prove that i can do well here and there, just for the fact that i wasnt being me at the time.. and with my school they replace the lowest grade with the highest and it will show on the transcript as they say, therefore that had given me more of a confidence booster saying to myself that "i can do this"... and as long as i am hoping that i am able to do what i can in order to prove that it will get me far.. and make me feel much more comfortable with what i am doing now...
and that was another thing i was a bit afraid of... whether i would be able to still do the nursing program etc.... although i am assuming that it is much more easier to understand now from where i am getting information everywhere..
i am just a kind of person if i really decide to do the things in life that i really want to do now, im not going to make the same mistakes that i have made and i wont give up..

There is only one program I know of that "guarantees" students on the wait list will start the program. Other than the fact that you're basically in a holding pattern on the wait list, many programs are continually updating their entrance prerequisites to meet state or funding requirements, and those changes are imposed on the wait listed students as well as new applicants. So, if you are wait listed, check the nursing website regularly to ensure you don't miss any changes.

At my school I applied for the fall 2011 program and didn't get in I was put on the wait list my number is 21it would take 21 people to refuse inorder for me to get in,if I don't get a call from the school by now and Aug 31,then I will have to re-apply all over again:( our wait list is not carried over.
ahh just a few things im still confused about hopefully i get it further down i mean i found out exactly how the point system stuff etc stuff works at my school but not too sure yet.....
