Hi There,
I turned my application in to Charity at the beginning of the year (and missed the deadline for spring 06). I called the school, and someone told me to write a letter to request early admission (I completed this last week). The lady indicated to me that people don't show up for classes all the time- and if I get the go-ahead- that it can be as late as 1 week before school starts. By this fall, I would have completed all pre-req's (including shots) that are needed.
My question is, Does anyone out there have any expereince with this, any advice?
I know that Charity is very unorganized, is there anything else that I should do?
thanks in advance for your response.

Keep calling... thats all I can tell you to do! They told me the same thing, and guess what? I didnt hear anything back from them. I do know, however, that at orientation there *were* waiting list people, so they somehow got there...
Keep buggin them!

Thank you so much for your reply!!!! I have been calling Charity like crazy. The answering machines are always on. There is no one there on Fridays... I want to go down to the admissions office, but I am scared that since this is the start of a new semester, that they are already bombarded with people. I have left messages , but have had no reply-which is ALWAYS the case. If you are aware of anyone in particular that I should talk to or anything else I should do, please respond back. Much appreciated.. Good Luck to you..
I think I had spoke to Mrs White, but like you said, since it is the begining of the semester, everyone is running around like chickens with their heads cut off! Good news is Spring Orientation isnt until like the last week of Dec or first of Jan, so you do have a while to get your foot in the door!
Best of luck!

i hear you have to make over a 116 to be considered seriously.
I think were in same boat.sort of you sound as frazzled as me.IM up for fall 06.I just need to start working on my reqs as soon as ms galven lets me know .howd u do on the pax anywayi hear you have to make over a 116 to be considered seriously.
Hi,
We spoke in another forum.. I did 147 on the PAX- took it in June -like you..
I am up for Fall 06- but have trying like hech to get more info on the waiting list. I wrote a letter of request. I called 5 different people at Charity yesterday to get info- only one person returned my call- and she was not in a postion to answer any of my questions... I guess I just have to go down there and park myself ...until I get some answers... I can not believe that an organization like this never returns calls- it is the most frustrating thing...There is no one at Delgado who will help you...they all say to contact Charity- its an endless cycle..
Where are you going to school? City Park? What classes are you taking this fall?

Wow, we might have seen each other...while in the office...That is the same person that I spoke to. Not suprising, I understand that there were a few people that were working in the admissions dept and they quit and left alot of paperwork to be had. That is so true about them not returning your calls... I understand that they must get 40 calls a day, but I too have been calling for 2 months now.. I was reluctant to go down there-but I am glad I did. The down side is having to wait so long- if I could afford it, I would attempt something else-but its not in the cards... It was just so disappointing working so hard to get pre-reqs out of the way-being shut out (so to say). I know its nobodys fault, I guess i'm just really bummed about it....

I dont know what your situation is now that the hurricane has passed and this was written well before, but I do know that at the time you apply for admission to Charity, you will need a grade for A&P I Lab and Lecture. Simply being enrolled in these classes when your application goes in will not be enough. They need a grade for these classes. This is how it was explained to me when I went through the application process and I know many people who were applying for a certain semester were overlooked because they were in A&P I Lab but did not have a grade in the class yet when the application went before the review committee.
Good luck!
Thanks for the reply. Currently, I am taking 2 classes on-line this semester that were offered by Delgado. I have never taken classes on-line before, so I am nervous if this is going to work out. What makes it worse is that the teachers just contacted us-so we have under 6 weeks to complet 16 weeks worth of work????? Mid terms are about Nov. 3-go figure?
At the end of this semester, I will have only 2 non-nursing classes left to take-this will be a math, and a/p 2 lab. I would of completed all classes prior to nursing if it were not for the hurricane.
The person in charge of Charity has contacted me-and indicated that the students that were enrolled in nursing 05' semester will have first dibs on classes. Unfotunately, I live in Metairie, and I do have a house to live in-there are many others that don't. In viewing all of the destruction left by the hurricane, I can't see how Delgado (or any other college in this area) could not experience a massive drop in students come Spring 06. These schools are going to be suffering.
