Well, I posted last fall about taking my exam, but something went wrong and I didn't go for testing. I can finally take my boards now within this month or the next. I graduated May of '06. Almost everyone in my class with the exception of myself and another person has taken and passed their boards. I need some encouragement and studying tips. I know that the pass rate goes down dramatically after waiting for so long to take the exam, but it was truly out of my control.:trout:

I would consider taking a review course and then follow their suggested methods. In the meantime, choose a comprehensive review book that you like and break down how you want to study...maybe focus on med surg for one week, peds the next and such. I would always make sure that I am also studying the medications associated with certain diseases as well, and in addition, do about 10-20 calculation problems per day. Keep us posted, and I wish you the best!
I never thought about breaking the subjects down. Thanks a lot. I still remember a lot of things. But the whole pass rate ordeal scares me...lol

Go get or borrow the Saunder's Comprehensive Review for PN.. it is wonderful, breaks things down into areas.& shows what your weak or strong areas are, plus a cd that has over 3,000 questions you can use to study with. GOOD LUCK!!

Also, some places you can take continuing ed will offer an NCLEX review, I know the one place I do all of my cont. ed offers both NCLEX PN/VN and NCLEX RN for students just graduating school, but still not having a firm enough grip on the information to feel comfortable enough to pass the testing.
