Wait List for Valencia Community College?

Published

Does anyone know exactly how long the wait list is for Valencia Community College??? I know they accept 120 students in the fall and spring and 80 students in the summer....I was thinking of applying there when I finish my pre-reqs and since they accept 320 students a year, I would think my chances would be good, do you??? :saint:

I have a couple of friends who work for several orlando area hospitals and they say you can always tell the VCC students or grads of nursing from the other students. They have a very good np and are one of the few Nursing schools that have a very high NCLEX passing rate...I guess its the training. Maybe they come out better prepard to enter the workforce idk but a friend of mine working at ORMC who is also a VCC grad has said on numerous occasions that if its between hiring a nursing grad from VCC and anyother NP in the area almost always the VCC grad is preferred. If this program was compettitve , just by looking at some of the students who applied with me, it would be a HELL of a compettetion for a seat.

This is good information to know. Thanks!

im not at all trying to discourage you from getting your BSN though ! in the long run your BSN will take you further than just your RN !!

Oh no, I didn't think you were trying to discourage me. I already have a bachelor's degree, so I still plan on applying to UCF's ABSN program. I figure it would be nice to make some use out of the degree I already have. I do hope to earn an advanced nursing degree, and I would like to get my BSN as soon as I can. It is nice to know that Valencia has a good program. I know that they only require applicants to meet the minimum requirements for acceptance, and I had been wondering about the program's quality. I plan on finishing up some BSN pre-reqs at Valencia when I move to the Orlando area in the fall, and I have not had the best experience with Valencia's transfer process. Everything is all fixed now though.

I took all my pre-reqs at valencia and i will tell you their nursing program pool of aplicants is of a very compettetive nature. although you only need a 2.5 GPA im pretty sure the average GPA of students applying is around a 3.6. and although you only need a 75% teas score , i got an 80%..i dont know the program average but a couple of friends took it around the same time i did and scored in the high 80's and mid 90's. so its deff a well regarded program..the waitling list which is a year is the only downside..i thought about applying at SCC b/c they dont have a waiting list but i decided agianst it when i found out about their program and their passing rates .

I checked Valencia's nursing website the other day, and their waiting list is already into Spring 2012. I will be ready to apply after this summer term, so I would probably be looking at either Spring or Summer 2012.

I was also considering applying to SCC. That stinks that their passing rates are low.

Is there anyone starting the NP at VCC next Aug (2011)?

I have a post going

Valencia CC Spring of 2011 - Nursing for Nurses

And some one in a reply said she was supposed to start in the summer of 2011 but got moved up the Spring of 2011 with me. Typically its a 3 semester wait but if your one of the lucky ones there is a small chance its only a 2 semester wait.

MichelleJ,

I am starting in Spring of 2012. What is your impression of the program? I know it's early, but just wondering.

I have a few questions about the nursing program at vcc.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if you have to finish all your pre-reqs to apply?

How long is the waitlist?

Are you guarenteed to get a spot as long as you meet the min. requirements?

Any other information would be great =)
