I was wondering if anyone knows if withdrawal from a class will hurt you to get accepted to a nursing program. I am having a hard time in my biology class and don't want to have a failing grade on my record. I really do believe that sometimes it all depends on what teacher you get, in how well you do. Help!.

I had the same question about 1 year ago...end result...I just got accepted to a University for BSN program. Review your potential schools policy on withdrawals if they have one. It depends on the school and when you retake the course. W is better than a fail, but if you withdraw it is suggested that you sign up for that course the very next semester. I have 2 W's on my AA transcript, I withdrew from Microbiology because the teacher made no sense and I was going to fail it and I also withdrew from Nutrition because I attempted too mnay credits that semester and just could not keep up with the homework. Both W's were in the same semester. For my retakes I got a B in micro, and an A in Nutrition. When in doubth withdraw but do not do it every semester, try not to do more than 2 W's is the general advice I got. If you going to get a C then suck it up or put in extra time of study trying to get A's in your remaining assignments and see if u can get B's overall. When you first start a course, carefully review the FULL syllabus and pay attention to the DROP deadline and drop the course before waiting too long that way dropped courses dont show up on your transcript. Online courses are not easy as everyone thinks. They take a lots of discipline and self motivation and are acutally more time consuming that regular classes. Most of my courses were online or hybrids class and part online.
