VON RPN in Ontario

Published

Hello...this is my first post...just wanted to know if there are any VON or Paramed RPNS on here who could give me some insight into the home care nursing jobs here in Ontario... Pay? Union?? Where are the collective agreements posted online??? I worked for VON for 4 years in Nova Scotia but get the feeling we are not as union strong down here...any advice would help...TIA

Specializes in Acute Care, Rehab, Palliative.

VON is not unionized in Ontario and the pay tends to be quite poor.

Thanks ...I kind of thought so...no Paramed peeps on here?

Why only those 2 agencies? There are certainly more than that

Specializes in AC, LTC, Community, Northern Nursing.

All home care pay sucks because community nursing is critically underfunded despite people being kicked out of the hospital earlier to make room for others and of courses hospital beds being closed and people using ER as a

Family dr's office. Doesnt matter what company you work for unfortunately. I dont think any home care agency is unionized because of $$$ but i may be wrong.

St Joe's Home Care is unionized

Where in Ontario is that?

VON is unionized in many Ontario communities. OPSEU and ONA are the unions in a few communities.

St Joe's Home Care Is in Hamilton and the union is open for RPN and a different one for RNs
