Just wanted to know what skills and resources you all would suggest for a new graduate nurse who is looking to do so e volunteering. I got my license this past week and have a job on a CVICU that starts July 15th. I want to volunteer, whiteout overwhelming myself of course.
I have 2.5 years of CNA experience in various areas, I worked PRN in a float pool. Mostly worked in the ED and on Med-Surg mostly.
I want to volunteer in a local clinic setting for now, until I gain more experience. I do hope to do a foreign volunteer assignment in the future. I plan to become an FNP in the future. I live in a SE and rural NC area and I think volunteering will give me a better glimpse into primary care practices in under served communities.
Thanks in advance. I am relaxing and enjoying myself as well. I like staying active though.

Congrats on your achievements! But I volunteered after I got my license also. It was in a GYN clinic. I did admissions, odd things around the clinic and I assisted the Dr. in examinations. But it all depends on what type of clinic you go to and what they require or permit you to do. I guess what I am saying, is to just be ready for anything. Keep us updated!

You're welcome! I liked it a lot. It is so much different than being in a hospital so it is a refreshing change. And even though GYN isn't my thing, it was fun to learn different things. I loved admitting the patients and talking to them.
