does anyone here had already been in redcross voulnteer services? how was it? what are do you there?
The American Heart Association has one, and only one, authorized Training Center in the Philippines. Operation Smile Philippines is the only organization in the Philippines authorized by the American Heart Association to offer classes in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support or Pediatric Advance Life Support in the Philippines. Classes offered by other organizations and issued cards from Training Centers in the United States are in violation of the agreements they have with the AHA. Holders of these unauthorized cards risk having the cards revoked by the AHA.Many hospitals in the US will not recognize American Red Cross or Philippine National Red Cross cards but insist on American Heart Association cards.
Operation Smile Philippines has their office on the 10th floor of the UCPB building in Makati.
Is this true?
Can anyone please tell me how much is there BLS, ACLS, PALS trainings and how long?
I am planning to take my BLS and IVT trainings asap... If the above info is true, I will consider enrolling with the OSP instead of taking my BLS with PNRC
hi. thanks for this comment. i find it helpful. um, so are you a pnrc qc volunteer? how did you become a volunteer there?
Just pass your resume at PNRC QC Chapter, Quezon City Hall compound. You can immediately have your orientation after OR have an orientation in group. After which, you can do voluntary works.

thank you for your reply. actually im still unsure if i should join in red cross manila or in red cross qc. but should you join the scheduled programs for you to be considered an active member in red cross? there was 1 time i wet to red cross qc but ends up we were not doing anything so i didnt know if the time i spent there waiting and doing nothing is still considered as a voluntary activity..standing by is also considered a voluntary activity or not?
In PNRC QC, they don't actually require number of hours to have a certificate. They will issue such if you attended various programs of RC and served for them to a point that you are already KNOWN to them. However, you ought to have a list of which activity, date, and role in every program to make sure.
What if they already know you even from the start? hehe!
super late reply but guys there are other ways to become and EMT. there are a lot of schools that offer EMT-B training. EMT-B training is more than just getting AHA certificates. you don't become an EMT just by getting trained by AHA. EMT-B training does cover a lot of grounds. from your basic anatomy perfusion techniques, burns, falls, radio codes, proper use of ambulance sirens and lights, etiquette, ethics, poisoning etc. i don't want to mention schools where you can learn how to be an EMT. GOOGLE is a tool, learn how to use it. compare what other schools offer and also, look at the profile and portfolio. not bad-mouthing OPSmile but from what i know, not everyone gets the opportunity to apply for this prestigious offer by the PNRC. why some other red cross volunteers have been volunteering for quite some time already but still, haven't been training or worse, lined up, remains a big question.
