Starting RN program in August, and wondering if any grads in VA had any trouble finding jobs, especially in the area of Gloucester to Northern Neck. And do the hospitals readily accept new grad ADNs?

I'm in Tidewater but many of the hospitals here only want BSNs. I know if you can relocate the Eastern Shore has a shortage.
Lordy Mercy, I hope I don't have to do that! Hopefully in a couple years things will turn around. Thanks!

Mom to 4, can you specify what is considered the Eastern Shore?
It is a peninsula off of the coast of Virginia. You must take the Chesapeake Bay Bridge tunnel to get there. It's a rural area with a bunch of small towns and there is only 1 hospital out there.

The Eastern Shore is attached to the bottom of Maryland; it is not attached to the Virginia mainland. It's about 70 miles long and the PP is right: it's very much rural.
The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel connects the bottom of the ES to Virginia Beach. The bridge toll is $12 EACH way ($17 round trip but only if done within 24 hours). So living in civilization in SE VA and commuting to ES for work is an expensive proposition...if you're planning to work in the ES, just move there.
Thanks!! I always wondered about that little "finger" of land actually!!
