I am in a RN to BSN program and we have an assignment this week that requires research into our state's nurse practice act.
First of all, I cannot seem to find the NPA for the state of Virginia. I have found statutes from the Code of Virginia regarding nursing, but I cannot find a NPA. Does anyone know if Virginia HAS a NPA? Is it called something else? Where can I find it?
We are supposed to find if our state has a provision in the NPA similar to Texas' "safe harbor" policy, where a nurse can call for safe harbor prior to accepting an assignment if she feels that it would put patients in risk for harm. I have searched but cannot find any similar policy in the state of Virginia. Anyone know of a protection for nurses specifically in VA that is similar to this?
