What Members Are Saying (AI-Generated Summary)

Members are discussing acceptance into the VCU DNAP program, with some receiving acceptance emails and others being waitlisted. There is confusion about finding the Facebook group for the program, questions about relocation requirements for the program, and a discussion on the differences between a DNP and DNAP degree in terms of teaching opportunities. Some members share their excitement about getting accepted, while others seek advice on reapplying to the program.

Is anyone in here applying for the upcoming VCU CRNA application cycle for January 2025 start?

I honestly don't know why you guys are going nuts about this program and why there is so many applicants. I literally just through one over here have no idea about this program. You have to broaden your horizons. A lot of times I feel like it's just lottery and they pick who ever. Gotta think everyone is basically qualified. I'm not even thinking about this school because I have 8 other apps out up the east coast and already got interviews. Can't keep the eggs in one basket with CRNA school.

Not going nuts. It's my only option right now. Some people have young children they won't sell their soul and leave them for 3 straight years. Some things are bigger than a career advancement and bigger paycheck. Sure I want to be a CRNA really bad, but my first priority is my children. If you don't have kids and can apply in 15 states and get in, bravo for you. If you are just good with leaving your small children to forget you for 3 years you're a much stronger more dedicated person than I. But I live in the Richmond area and the only choice I have is VCU right now. It's that or pack up and leave my 6 and 8 yr old alone with their dad. No other extended family to help. Just them and their dad. So I am here trying to make my dreams a reality as well as being a mother. Not just being VCU fan girl.

Hey I totally get it . I have 4 kids and spouse with no family help to babysit . I plan on moving to whatever school I get into with the whole squad because I know this would be forever life changing financial stability. Most schools are remote and don't require to relocate until after first year. I would really think about applying to more schools for a better chance. 2 year sacrifice to change your guys lives forever !

I can really appreciate that! Moving where they teach you. I wish more people would. Most will move out here from whatever and then go back. And that doesn't help our immediate shortage here in the area. At least you're willing to work wherever you get accepted and help their need in the area.

I simply said that when they are ranked higher they get more applicants. If VCU isn't your pick since you already got in, why are you even here? Just to hold your admission over our heads while some of us with only one choice eagerly await a response from the only program we can apply this year. I swear if the schools could see you all mean, braggy types for what you are on these forums your interview may not have been as successful. Good luck to you.

I don't remember directing anything towards you? I'm not holding my admission over anyone and don't plan on enrolling at VCU...I'm merely stating that I have chosen a different program because they accepted me first but holding out from withdrawing my application from VCU because I'd like to know if I would even be considered for an interview from them...nothing I said was directed towards you or anyone else for that matter. Me not withdrawing my application has no affect on you or the other applicants. Focus your anger elsewhere.

I'm here for the simple fact that I'm an applicant like yourself?

I think this person is just trying to encourage you to withdraw if you have no intention of attending. I completely understand your curiosity about receiving an interview invite but I do think withdrawing would allow VCU to offer to students who may enroll vs offering to someone who knows they won't attend. Again no shade, I don't blame your curiosity but I would encourage you to withdraw if you know you aren't going to attend in order to allow other applications who don't have acceptances the opportunity to get an interview offer. It's the difference between you getting an interview you don't need (because you're already accepted somewhere else) and someone not getting into school at all. Again absolutely no shade to you, totally your decision, just offering a different perspective. I wish you the best with your career and congrats on your acceptance!

In the world of anesthesia, actually throughout one's entire life, clear communication is key. Poor choice of words on their end and they was looking for an argument.

I have every right to keep my application active until I hear back from VCU. Me withdrawing doesn't affect who VCU decides to interview. If I'm qualified for an interview and I withdraw at that stage in the application process, it goes to the next person regardless if I withdraw now or later. I already paid my application fee so yes, I'd like to see it through. I wish them luck with whatever s/he chooses.

People change their mind about what school they attend...what if I interview, get accepted, and get a better attendance package than my original school? Do I not get that option or choice? I could also be straight up rejected. I am no more qualified than her/him. S/he just needs to work on their emotional intelligence.

If they're qualified and they're a good fit for VCU they would be happy to have them enroll. Again, I did not direct anything towards them.

I apologize for my frustration and comment. It was misdirected as I had read 2 different comments from 2 different accounts in email and it wasn't fully your reply. Honestly I shouldn't have even entertained a frustrated reply. I don't want a fight with you. I don't want any fight with anyone here, as we could possibly be cohort or colleagues. I don't particularly like to get into any arguments with anyone.
I was originally replying to someone who had replied about "I don't know why you all are going nuts over VCU". Which I mixed up with your admission comment. That is where my frustrated comment came from and that's my fault. I was like buddy, if VCU isn't anything to get excited about and you have an admission why hang out in here and talk about how VCU isn't worth getting excited about. Again I should have kept my frustration to myself in that place and should have verified who I was even replying to, as well as checking my tone and words before just hitting send. You have every right to explore every option you have and are very smart for doing so. I wish that I had the option of casting a larger net. I would never want someone to withdrawal if they are hoping for admission at a certain school and holding out to see if they get it. I hope you get into whatever school you dreamed of. We all are here for exactly that. Good luck to you.
