Hi Everyone. I wanted to create a thread for the vcu CRNA 2023. Has anyone submitted their application yet ?

I emailed the director of admissions on the 18th (before I saw this forum that interviews were sent out that day) asking for interview updates and I still haven't received a response from her! Has anyone else gotten an interview invitation?

It seems they only reply back to those whom they have selected for interview. My friend got interview and they reply to all her emails, but I get no replies ?

hmm interesting. thank you!

I think what will happen is VCU will reach out again for interviews for the applicants who were not able to interview. I don't think everyone will accept and they will offer those slots to other applicants!

I agree. I still can’t believe it that I didn’t get an interview. I thought my stats were OK (GPA 3.89 with 4.0 science, CCRN, cardiac ICU experience, preceptor and charge nurse on the unit etc.). I literally don’t know how else I can improve.

Has anybody not accepted the interview on this forum? Have they reached you with date and time yet? It’s tough…not knowing. I am so humbled with this whole experience

I’ve heard multiple people say they do rolling interviews, so this might just be the first wave of them. I’ve also heard they always send an email out if you aren’t selected so if you haven’t gotten that then I would try to remain optimistic. My stats are similar to yours except I work in the Trauma ICU and I haven’t gotten an invite for an interview either.

I think there’s more than just stats. Your essay?Your resume?. Did you sell yourself enough? There’s a lot of speculations, in reality no one really knows how the process works except for the admission committee. I think you should still be hopeful and if you were not to be selected this cycle  find ways to improve what can be improved. Do they believe in community service? Maybe do more of that.

I think maybe part of the process this year was the fact that they removed the GRE requirement. It probably removed the barrier to apply for lots of applicants, hence why they took so long to get back to us. That allowed probably a more diverse group of applications, which makes it probably difficult for the admissions committee. From my friends who have gone through the program, their stats are similar to everyones here...

I am definitely applying again, and I won’t stop until I get in. I can see that there is definitely more to this. I just thought I had enough to at least get me through interview. Did you guys use CRNA coaching? Apparently, there is a market for that

You are right. I myself was planning to apply for cohort that starts in 2024. But literally applied last minute because they removed GRE requirement.

I haven't heard anything either. I am trying to stay optimistic. If not this year, I will try again next year.

Thankful to hear everyone's experiences so far. It has been beneficial and informative! Good luck to us all!
