Villanova vs. University of Pennsylvania

Published

Hi everyone! So I am a bit overwhelmed with good news and decisions. I recently got accepted into Villanova and the University of Pennsylvania for a primary care pediatric NP Program! Not gonna lie, I only applied to schools that were free for me to apply and never thought I would get into Penn. So I originally had my eyes on Villanova.

Now I am kinda stressed about making a decision. Getting into Penn feels like a once in a lifetime opportunity for me (the connections/affiliation with CHOP/ Ivy League reputation) has me drawn. Financially it would be roughly $15k more than Villanova.

I know both are reputable programs but I am torn as to what is best for me. Both programs find clinical sites, both programs are roughly 15-20 minutes from my home.

Has anyone attended a PNP program at either of these schools and can give me their thoughts?

Knowing nothing about the programs, I'd probably go with UPenn. 1) Villanova is catholic (I am not), and that religion gets incorporated into their education (from what I've heard). 2) UPenn is an Ivy League school. And sure, the degree is what matters, but having a UPenn degree is something I wouldn't wanna pass up. Check out class sizes. From what I heard about general nursing school, the class sizes were small. And UPenn is also affiliated with the whole health system, right? But, I have not been in the program, so really not a review. Good luck!
