Villanova BSN Express '11

Published

Is anyone else applying/been accepted to Villanova's BSN Express class starting in May 2011?

Ok maybe I will take it there, depending on the price. Thank you so much! Out of all the prereqs , pathophys has been the hardest to find online! lol so ty! i'll contact Grantham today. I don't have any kids, I guess I'm just nervous about the Pathophys class in general! lol but what you said def gave me some reassurance. and as soon as I'm all registered and set w/ the prereqs I'll let u know what I find as far as housing and if you want plz let me know if u find out anything too.

No problem. I been on craigslist weekly but it is still rather early to start trying to sign a lease. I have just been looking at potential places. If I find anything though I will let you know. I was really nervous about the class as well, but it was pretty decent paced.

yea we def still have time to seriously start looking at places, but ok sounds great :) n i signed up for grantham pathophys! :)

Does anyone know of any thread that has been made in regards to students in the BSN Express and their experience of the program??:snowman:

I hear you, Melly23! I'm so jealous seeing so many threads from Drexel students and little input from Villanova students.

Has anyone been to an Open house at Villanova pertaining to the program. I feel like I am venturing into the unknown...it's like a secret society. Anyway, hope everyone is doing okay.

Rosemarie,

I have not been to the open house but there are youtube/itunes videos that are available for free that discusses the program in detail.

All the best!

Here is one review I found from 2BArmyRN. Keep in mind, though, its from 2008.

Hey, everyone -- I just found this thread, and thought I'd respond.

I graduate from the BSNExpress at Villanova in THREE MONTHS!!!

The program is really great, but it is fast and you are going to feel like you're not learning everything you should be. DON'T FREAK OUT! Just take a deep breath, and remember that even when you only have, like, 30 hours of clinical in a semester you're going to have HUNDREDS of hours once you find a job and get settled into an orientation (this is something my classmates freak out over all the time - and I always tell them "don't do it!").

Really try to read your textbooks in advance of lecture - you'll be golden on exams if you do this. And study in groups, when you can. You'll get a lot more out of it.

DON'T BUY an expensive PDA! My whole class bought super-expensive PDAs and we never use them. Buy a cheap one, just in case you find you're really not into it. (The PDA is for drug programs you might use in clinical. I NEVER use it - I prefer the Davis Drug Guide instead. Just a personal preference.). You're paying for the Pepid program in your tuition, though.

The uniforms are horrible. You'll wear it and find yourself randomly asking people, "Do you want fries with that?" (You'll see what I mean.....)

Join SNAP and NSNA! You'll get a lot out of your Villanova experience if you do. The underclassmen that are coming up and running the Student Nurses Association of PA are awesome! They have great ideas, and they really respect second degree students' opinions. The conferences they attend are terrific for networking, or getting into nursing advocacy (which is what I do).

Last, but not least, HAVE FUN! Don't freak out over grades or schoolwork - try to maintain some semblance of a life. You'll have a better time of it if you heed this advice, trust me!

If I can answer any more questions, please let me know! I have loved my time as a BSNExpress student at VU....I hope all of you do, too! :nuke:

hey bleemme! so srry it took me a while to respond to ur post, i jus realized that u did! neway ok sounds great, did u send the pm? i didn't get nething from u. n i thought 3.5 hrs was a big move for me! -_- lol def must be exciting for u! :D oh n ty for the post from 2BArmyRN! :)

Hello Melly23! I did not notice that you replied to this thread until now. I'll resend my pm with my e-mail. By the way, are you part of the huge e-mail going back and forth re housing? I can't wait to meet you soon, in May!
