Verification for FASFA

Published

Okay so I'm not sure if this is the right place to be asking but I need help ASAP!!! I started nursing school this week but I feel like everything is falling apart already! I was chosen for verification so I already done the paper work but I was under the impression the only paper I needed to turn in was MY W2. I go to turn them in yesterday and she said that she couldn't accept it. She needed my IRS transcript. According to the website it could take up to a month to get it but if we don't get this in by 2 weeks we get kicked out! So my questions is can I go to the local IRS office and get this instead of mailing (I was told you could, but is it the same?) second, is there any other papers I need? I live with my parents still!!! Help before I get kicked out!!!

You can call the IRS and request a transcript to be mailed to you, takes about 5-10 business days. I had to get one for my special circumstances appeal at my school and had it within a week. I don't have the number off hand but the following link should hopefully help Get Transcript

I had to do the same thing. I was able to print something from the FAFSA website that had all of my IRS information on it, and my financial aid department accepted it.

FAFSA application should offer to link information from the IRS into your FAFSA. You need a pin from the IRS to do the transfer. All you need is name, social, & DOB to authenticate with the IRS site. Your tax information should be then available to FIN AID.

If this is what you have done then I have no other advice.

I went through the same thing and was able to get one at my local IRS office. I did have to wait for a while (as in hours) because the place was busy, but I walked out with a transcript on the same day I went in.

As for whether you need anything else or not, only your financial aid office can tell you for sure.
