Hi All,
I'll be starting at VEEB in the Fall and was wondering if there are any current or past VEEB students that can give some info on this program.
What are the Teachers like?
What are the required books?
Is the program as intense as they say?
Do they have articulation agreements with other nursing (RN) programs? If so, with who?
Are there any disadvantages in taking the LPN course outside of a Community College setting?
Do they provide job Placement at the end???
Any information that ANYONE can provide will be GREATLY appreciated! I really want to have a full understanding of what I'm in for. I have 2 year old Twins and I am a little worried about whether or not I'll be able to juggle school/studying and Family!
Just hang in there, if it's not too inconvenient for you, I suggest you go to the school and bring up the issue in person. It's going to be difficult for them to BS you as opposed to over the phone. I'm sure they can easily check your test record, and they've gotta have some master list with all the names of the people who passed.A significant issue with VEEB is they're not exactly keeping up with the times. I hate to say it but those in charge of the the school are basically a stubborn bureaucracy. There are many feasible suggestions that could increase the efficiency of the school and its test scores, but they don't want to hear it.
Like they could easily post the test results on a site, or send results via email. It would definitely save them some money.
Those of you who attend will see what I'm saying, maybe as soon as orientation.
To address the grading system at VEEB. You just need a 70+ in every subject to pass. Theres no differentiation b/w classes.
Also about the math classes some of you guys plan on taking, not unless you really feel your skills are lacking, I suggeest you don't worry about it. VEEB will literally "baby" you, in the beginning, so you have a solid foundation for pharmacology. I'm fairly decent at math so it was kind of agonizing for me, I'm sure many of you might feel the same.
As far as Pharmacology, you'll only get hints of it as far as test material concerning specific drugs/categories is concerned the 1st semester. Its mainly math. 2nd semester is very intense, and 3rd is just as bad I hear. Its basically alot of memorization and reading and solid test prep. So I'm not sure a pharmacology class would help too much, since you might forget the material during the 1st semester.
Don't let me discourage you though, just calling it as I see it.
Thanks Grindin, just wanted to be as prepared as possible. And everyone that I have spoken to no matter the school always says pharm is hard. Can't wait to see for myself!lol:D
yeah while my cuz told me to glance at pharm books, grindin made a good point you will forget it by 1st semester. I spoke to my aunt who graduated already and pass the board and she said dont stress it get into the program and everything will take its place the key to passing pharm is study study study until you cant study any more so i would say just save your money, and enjoy the last bit of freedom this summer b/c as soon as sept hits fun is over and we have to buckle down.
With the SNYA program once we are accepted they will send us letters trying to recruit, and they pay for tuition and books so I think its a good idea im def. going to do it now. :)
hey guys I still didn't get my test results back, the lady said they are still sending them out!! And that they don't send them out by any particular order! Uuggghh I'm feeling pretty bummed because I feel like I'm at a stand still with everything, Im so worried I feel maybe it got lost in the mail, I told the lady over the phone and she said that they still have a lot more to mail out..I hope I get good news in the mail soon!! If I don't get anything by Saturday I'm going to go to veeb on Monday, Geo did u get anything yet?
So today makes 1 month 1 day 12hrs and 2mins since I took the test lol . And I took mine on the 24th so I guess i really shouldnt be expecting anything any time soon because NY-MOM took her test waayyy before me and still has nothing, and im pretty sure it has nothing to do with the fact that I live in Queens...I so ready to get my letter that I have a date that im leaving my current job...
