VEEB LPN Program (info request)

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi All,

I'll be starting at VEEB in the Fall and was wondering if there are any current or past VEEB students that can give some info on this program.

What are the Teachers like?

What are the required books?

Is the program as intense as they say?

Do they have articulation agreements with other nursing (RN) programs? If so, with who?

Are there any disadvantages in taking the LPN course outside of a Community College setting?

Do they provide job Placement at the end???

Any information that ANYONE can provide will be GREATLY appreciated! I really want to have a full understanding of what I'm in for. I have 2 year old Twins and I am a little worried about whether or not I'll be able to juggle school/studying and Family!

hey malenurse20, i'm also in the process of studying for the veeb entrance exam, my weakness is math also so i have to focus on that, i've been studying from a nurse entrance exam study guide, i really want to get into veeb!!! can any current veeb students tell us hopeful future veeb students how they like the school so far?? Thanks!!!!!

Math is evil lol... The study guide that i have is called "pre-nursing assessment test-pn study guide... I think the vocab i will do just fine on, BUT THAT EVIL MATH IS ANNOYING!!!

I REALLY DON'T CARE HOW MANY EGGS SALLY BOUGHT FOR $1.59 SHE BOUGHT 6 CARTONS OF EGGS DROPPED 2 AND FORGOT ONE HOW MUCH DID SHE PAY?? LOL OR SOME DUMB WORD PROBLEM LIKE THAT

BUT ANYTIME I FEEL DOWN I JUST THINK OF THE SALARY, THE FACT THAT IM HELPING PEOPLE, AND THE JOB SECURITY!!

Definitely a excellent school, can be very challenging based on your work ethic/prior knowledge. Feels similar to high school, w/ the classroom hours and the occasional ego clashing and attitudes. Not a big deal though.

As far as the entrance exam from what I can recall, a good portion of the reading part was vocabulary. Nothing too bad though a few analogies among other things and sentences where you have to deduce what the underlined word means. Reading comprehension was fairly simple.

For the math, again from what I can recall its; fractions, long division, word problems, multiplication, number sequences. Just have the math concepts down on exam day and you'll be fine.

Not to downplay the test or anything, but I feel the test was very easy.

Malenurse20, keep working on that math until you have the concepts down, otherwise you'll have problems in pharmacology where lot of the math problems are word problems. A little practice goes a long way.

Thanks grindin goodlooks

What options would i have if i were to fail? Is there a retake?

they only allow u to take one entrance exam per year so if u dont pass u cant retake it till next year, i think if u come really really close to passing they have something called a bridge program in which u would take a summer remedial class and then retake the entrance exam again but i"ve heard that that 2nd entrance exam after the bridge program is even harder, so the best bet is to study hard and pAss the first time around..goodluck to u! i will be taking the exam soon too and i"m really nervous!..

If u guys have study guide of any (NLN nursing entrance for Practical Nursing) the math and reading comprehension parts are similar to what is going to on the Veeb entrance exam. as far as the vocabulary part veeb asks about the meaning of 80 words. but the words are easier than what is in the NLN entrance exams. the thing with veeb is if u fail by just a little bit, they will give u an option to takethe exam over again in the summer BUT u have to attend a 3 week class that costs an extra $500.00 with no gurantee. and if u fail that exam again u wont get ur money back.

ok thanks.... when are u taking the test? I called veebs and a lady told me to come in on the week of the 27th and get the application and a non-changeable test date. Iwanna know Are they gonna collect the $150 at that point?

Yea i have to def kick it into over drive here..1,000 people are tested right and only 200 get accepted or am i mistaken?

hey when u go to pick up the test date, make sure u call them before and ask them what u have to bring in like id, highschool diploma or etc..because they are very strict with that, they will send u back home if u dont have what they ask for u to bring in..and as far as the $150 u have to bring in a money order for that amount on the day of the test..a lady over the phone told me to go in around that time too, i so want to get into veeb!!!!

You don't need to bring anythign when you get an application. Everything is collected test day.

Just follow the instructions exactly, postal money orders only etc.

They keep testing until all the seats get filled.

Once you get the results after a few weeks, they have you mail back 2 reference letters and if all is well you get an acceptance letter in a week or so.

And basically the first 200 to come back w/ the $1000 deposit are taken.

Again postal M.O. only, the school is kinda annoying w/ that, but they accept cash for tuition...weird

Well the lady did tell me i had to bring my diploma with me

Out of the 80 word meanings how many do i need to get right for passing? and is that all for the reading section just word meanings?

u have to bring in your diploma and photo id to get the application and test date..
