VEEB LPN Program (info request)

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi All,

I'll be starting at VEEB in the Fall and was wondering if there are any current or past VEEB students that can give some info on this program.

What are the Teachers like?

What are the required books?

Is the program as intense as they say?

Do they have articulation agreements with other nursing (RN) programs? If so, with who?

Are there any disadvantages in taking the LPN course outside of a Community College setting?

Do they provide job Placement at the end???

Any information that ANYONE can provide will be GREATLY appreciated! I really want to have a full understanding of what I'm in for. I have 2 year old Twins and I am a little worried about whether or not I'll be able to juggle school/studying and Family!

Hey guys,

I understand the orientation for the bridge program was today! How was it??

My orientation is tomorrow at 4

Gabby10 I appreciate that!!!! That gives all time to start getting our finances in order to provide the down payment as well as the first tri-semester tuition.

Praise2u I don't mean to sound like a smart@$$ but VEEB also gave us an entrance test and there was plenty of advice on topics to study, there has to be an outline that we will all eventually have to follow.........

What Praise2u said is correct... when you go for Orientation in June or July (I can't remember when it is) They will give you modules with information pertinent to the 1st tests. I understand you're eager to "get ahead" but if you do the pre-school packets you will be fine.

Does anyone know if its too late to apply for fall 2010? i know i should just call but cant wait until tmrw during office hrs...are there anymore testing dates left? thanks!!

Yes its too late for 2010-2011.

Trinionli I appreciate the info on the pre-packets! Praise2u I stand corrected....Thanks.....

No problem. If you put the time in you will do fine in VEEB. They basically spoonfeed you. Honestly of the 13 or so "required" books.... I own 3, One of which is an older edition than the one the school currently uses. Trust me it has all the same info...... LOL It has not affected my grades thus far my average is in the 90's. All the info for the tests come directly from the modules the teachers give us. They also have a library where you can take books out from Mon- Thurs for 50 cents. Don't let them scare you into paying $600 for books at orientation. If you feel you need the books use the ISBN # and buy them used online like at Amazon or something like that.

Thanks for the info Trinionli! By the way, what at are the names of the 3 books u purchased? Are they really helpful...like a must have? I know the books might change but I'm guessing if they don't i'll have a heads up on the books I really need by the time orientation rolls around! :\

The books I have are the Nursing 2010 Drug handbook by Lippincott (I paid $20 on Amazon), Memmlers The Human Body in health and disease (hand-me-down older edition from a former VEEB Student) and a Nursing Fundamentals Text book... can't remember the author ($25 on Amazon). I doubt they will change the books since they did that this year. They may change editions but again the older ones have the same info! Honestly I got these because they were the ones I could afford they are not really must haves. The drug book I would say is the one I benefited the most between class and clinical.
