VEEB LPN Program (info request)

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi All,

I'll be starting at VEEB in the Fall and was wondering if there are any current or past VEEB students that can give some info on this program.

What are the Teachers like?

What are the required books?

Is the program as intense as they say?

Do they have articulation agreements with other nursing (RN) programs? If so, with who?

Are there any disadvantages in taking the LPN course outside of a Community College setting?

Do they provide job Placement at the end???

Any information that ANYONE can provide will be GREATLY appreciated! I really want to have a full understanding of what I'm in for. I have 2 year old Twins and I am a little worried about whether or not I'll be able to juggle school/studying and Family!

I was on the board, barely, but at least i was there. My main complaint is that i felt blindsided by the format of the test. Also, there were a lot of questions where there were two answers that could be correct, but you have to use "critical thinking".

I figured it was going to be more straightforward like the first test we took in Scientific Foundations. Oh well...Good luck tomorrow.

Glad to see Human Dev hasn't changed a bit even with a new instructor. Trust me youll appreciate the questions once the boards roll around, they're very similar if not tougher than the practice questions Im seeing.

Dont get caught up in the nonsense some of my classmates got caught in. Finishing a test 1st doesn't mean a thing, its not a race. Take your time, but pace yourself. HD just got harder as the year passed, I found myself running out of time kinda often.

hey praise, I was so relieved to see mines too!! Goodluck on tomorrows test!

Didn't receive such a good mark on my chemistry test, not to happy about it, but must move on.

Do you have any study tips.

I pretty much shut down in class due to the way the instructor addresses people. In her own words I think she is very belittling. The only way things can be done is if we do them as a unit. If we have a complaint we must stick together and address the issue TOGETHER. Some of the instructors are not very professional. :sniff:. I want the other instructor back, can't believe she is not teaching, so disappointed.

As far as study tips;

This is personally what worked for me. Take the texts or google searches and use them to verify the notes you took in class. Once you verify the accuracy of your notes, just keep looking over them, and take a careful glance right before the exam.

And I hear what you guys are saying about missing notes. It becomes a very big issue during 2nd semester with the faster pace. Call me a hypocrit, but I never read the texts, I strictly studied from notes, so if I missed some info and it was on test, it cost me.

I thought I could get away with it by bringing a computer, cuz I type fast. Even though most of the teachers were cool with it, the head of the program had the final say, and her excuse was that I could be on the internet instead and not taking notes. :roll

If anyones interested PM me and Ill give you solutions to the problem. I'll only respond to people I've consistently seen in this thread though. No exceptions.

Also if any of you are in that classroom on the 2nd floor, that was me yesterday in the blue shirt at the beginning of Nursing Fund. class. I was in a bit of a rush, otherwise I might've gave you that go to tutoring, study hard speech, all the alumni seem to give...lol

Most nursing schools, colleges and other learning institutions allow lap tops and recording devices. Veeb is soo old school! Get with it already gosh!

hey grindin thanks for all your help!!

I know how to make "nurse corners" now! lol...now im going around my house fixing all the beds!

Excuse me, does anyone else realize that NYS is mandating us to get the flu shot and H1 N1 vaccine?? this is totally against our constitutional right! The government went behind the people's back and legislated for this! I personally am very uncomfortable about being forced to be a guinea pig with this extremely experimental drug! Is Veeb going to waive the days when we get a reaction from the flu shots?? Most do get reactions! and fever none the less! But more importantly this vaccine has definitely not been tested long enough to see how and what the effects are years later down the road. FYI when the "regular" flu shot was created several decades ago, many died from it. It wasnt til the early 1990's that it appeared to safe.

I brought this same issue up to one of our instructors because I am extremely against getting the H1N1 vaccine. I was basically told if we don't get it then we cannot do clinicals and continue in VEEB. So basically they're trying to make it seem like a choice but if we want to be nurse's we have to get it and it's NOT a choice.

From what I am seeing is the flu shot is mandatory, but the h1n1 shot is reccommeded?
