VCU and MSA 2013

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Hi everyone!

I am finally officially applying to VCU and MSA for 2013. Was also going to apply to UT chat and SEHC but decided 2 was all I could reasonably afford to fly out to interview at.

This has been such a LONG road to get here, it is weird to think that my time has finally come. Just last night was a coworker's last shift, and he is off to VCU.

Anyone else applying here? Already applied? Thought I would start a thread to see if anyone was out there!

Me

Missnurse- Sorry have been working and haven't got on here in awhile. I actually live in Northern VA, about 1 1/2 hours away. BUT I don't think the traffic is too bad there, at least nothing compared to DC. I've heard the West End is nice. I also know that VCU has buses/shuttles that seem to help with parking, etc.

Oh, and there is a short test-nothing too hard! Good luck with your interviews!

No problem Kdlrn ! My boyfriends family is up in Winchester. We lived in Maryland a while back and I worked in Bethesda. Are u going to move more locally if u get in ?

Thanks for the heads up about the test ! More things to worry about lol. Just spent 2 days shopping for an interview outfit. I hate shopping !

Hope kellly chimes in how the interview went this week.

Hello everyone I'm new to the forum world but I too got an interview with vcu on oct 25th. Did anyone else apply to the Abingdon campus? Wondering if there is any tips or pointers for the interview and what types of questions to expect on the test?

well Hi lcsrn!

two so far on this board have interviewed so far, I am going on the 18th. I thought someone did apply to the Abingdon campus, I almost did! Hopefully they will chime in for you. I hear the interview isn't super grueling, nevertheless I am reviewing lots of things to hope I sound smooth in my delivery. There are a ton of interview type questions if you search on google for crna school. I think if you search here there is a thread for that as well. No idea about the test, I just hear it isn't bad.

good luck!

I am getting so nervous as my interview approaches!

I would have applied for Richmond but it is 6 hours away and Abingdon is only about 1 1/2 from where I live now. Yeah I've been looking over interview questions for a while and about to loose my mind haha. The nervousness is starting to set in for me as well, and Im sure it will get worse as the date approaches. I haven't received anything in the mail yet regarding directions or the building location but maybe next week. Best of luck during your interview and keep us posted.

Yeah my stomach is in full butterfly mode all the time ! We thought of living with my mother in law and commuting to the northern campus but I wanted the benefit of the full campus experience w the sim lab and established clinical sites and instructors. Don't know too much about the northern campus to compare. Spent 3 days shopping for interview clothes ! I hate shopping ! I want to be the real me in jeans . Lol

My interview is Nov 8th. I've been reviewing my ccrn stuff to prepare. I'm applying to the Roanoke campus. My friend who graduated about a year ago is going w/me to help keep my nerves in check on the way there :)

Kellly I thought you went last week. Guess I am confused. My previous coworker is attending there now and will ferry me back and forth from the airport. We are having dinner the night before so hopefully he can calm my nerves! Studying ccrn stuff, interview questions/topics, all kinds of data. I hear they aren't grueling but I can't help worry they would suddenly decide to be with me!

Kellly I am so jealous you got a date so far out! They would only schedule me for the day I have, which left me 2 weeks to prepare, rather short for changing schedules and all the plans and shopping. I think that's why I am more nervous, I thought I would have more prep time!!

Hi guys ! I interviewed today , so happy it is all over with. I like that they are talking students final decisions a month earlier than previous years. So we have about 4 weeks of torture instead of 8, lol.

I don't really know how I did...esp the adcom chair...very tight lipped. I felt the interviews were too short ! There was so Much I wanted to say but didn't get a chance to. I just put my best foot forward and flat out said I was the best candidate for next years class ! Lol

Good luck guys

Hi missnurse

Glad your interview went well. Thats great I don't think I could stand an 8 week wait period. Did you like the campus and sim lab ? How was the test ? and in the interview did they ask any clinical questions or was it basic why do you want to be a CRNA type questions?

Hi lcsrn !

Campus is completely removed from vcu. It is basically a wing at the old hospital there , right next to vcu med center. The allied health division is there. But it's nice. A few lecture rooms , two sim lab rooms , a breakroom. Test was basic icu knowledge , nothing quite difficult. The interviews were mostly get to know u questions with some behavioral ones thrown in. No clinical grueling.

They also had a senior student who was about to graduate in December come talk to us. We were able to be alone w her and ask any question we wanted.

It all just solidified why vcu is my number one school choice.

Good luck and let us know how it went !!!
