Hey everyone!
I'm semi new to this site and was curious if there is anyone else out there in the application process for VCU's Accelerated BSN program to start in May 2014. I've started my application, but haven't turned it in, yet. This is the only program I want to go to! I don't know if I can wait until the end of January to get a decision!!!!
I finished my degree in Biology in May 2011 and I've been working in NOVA at a fast paced medical office ever since. Also, I've taken all of my pre-reqs except for A&P I and II (starting A&P I in a few weeks), but just a bit concerned about my grades/GPA from undergrad. I meet all of the requirements thus far, but not sure if it will be enough. Anyone else having similar concerns?
Also, would love to hear from any current VCU ABSN students - what were your stats like when applying, how do you like the program, etc.
Hey everyone, I just called the Nursing processor (804-828-6009) and she said the decision date isn't until January 31st. I'm as anxious as you all are but we have another week to wait.
Oh lawd. That's too soon. Lol. I don't want to know. But Allie, I guess you were right about them telling us on a Friday!
@Allie- Awww! It'll be okay! I really am curious how the decision making process works though. Like how do they decide whose application they read first? Do they sort them into piles of like "people who meet minimum GPA" and then "those who don't?" ANd then from there, make piles from the people who meet min. GPA of who has all pre-reqs finished and who doesn't? And so on and so on? Or just when they turned their application in? Does anyone else think about that or is it just me? LOL
@Lexi - I wonder the same thing, myself! There's this movie called "Admission" with Tina Fey and Paul Rudd and Fey portrays an admissions councelor for an ivy league school. Kind of shows you their decision process, though I have no idea if that is anywhere near how they actually make decisions.
From the info session I went to, I got the impression that they take the initial pool of applicants and sort them first by who is actually qualified - so, who meets the minimum GPA and schooling criteria. That gets rid of about half of the applicants. After that, I'm not sure what they do, but I'd love to know, just for my own amusement.

@wilsonsr - breathing, just like not compulsively checking my e-mail - is SO HARD!!!! Haha.
Please let us know if you do call and what they say (about decision dates and some application statuses changing while others have not).
Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out. Must not check e-mail for 30 minutes. Psh. Yeah right!
