Vaping

Nurses Recovery

Looking for up to date and accurate info on vaping and etoh testing in monitoring programs. Any info out there?

I've been vaping for the past 4 months and have no problem at all. I do make sure mine doesn't have alcohol in it. I asked someone once and they said only the alcohol flavors have a minute amount of alcohol in it

Ok. So just got back from the vape store and am still confused. The guy said that none of them had alcohol in them so I asked how come they specifically say "alcohol free" on some sites. He said that's just a thing like "gluten free" and "caffeine free", just cause people like to see it there...

He is ignorant of facts.

Many of the flavorings are made in an alcohol base (think how they use bourbon to make vanilla). When it is heated the alcohol will evaporate and leave you with the flavoring - in theory. If you are going to vape and you want to be safe - you should learn to make your own vape juice. It is actually fairly simple if you know any basic chemistry (and as a nurse - you should know enough to do what you need to do).

You will need Vegetable Glycerine, Propylene Glycol, nicotine if you need it and your flavorings. Now you can actually buy all this from certain vape shops online. You don't want alcohol flavorings or flavorings with like red dye or dark colorings - you don't care what color it is to vape and color is just an additive that you don't need in your lungs. It isn't hard at all once you know what you are doing - the hardest part is determining how much nicotine to use to get the right mg in your juice - thats the worst chemistry part here.

The rest is sort of trial and error with the thin/thickness of your juice and the flavorings and your type of mod and coils. The ratio of pg/vg is what gives you throat hit vs smoke. I don't vape - but my fella does. In about a year he went from 18mg of nicotine to 0. He still vapes but he doesn't even bother with nicotine anymore (its a hand mouth thing for him). He can't even do store bought juice because he doesn't like them anymore. There are apps to help with preparing juice flavors and getting nicotine right.

If you have questions, feel free to message me. Don't buy anything from that store - find someone else who knows that they are talking about!!!
