HI,

I have applied to Vanderbilt, UVM and UMASS for Fall 2010. Has anyone else ? What are your stats. I am trying really hard to find out what my odds are and can not find anything on the web. Does anyone know where I can find out this information ? I am on the cut off line with GRE score and GPA for Vanderbilt. Any information would be very much apperciated

I applied to Vanderbilt as well! I'm eagerly waiting to hear from them! I did score above the GRE requirement (not by much). I can PM you specifics.

Hi,

Yay ! Can you PM me the details ? I have my interview with Vanderbilt on Thursday. And would loveto hear from you before then. Do you know where I would get my PM ? Thanks again It is great to find someone who applied for the same year!

Hey emarble - I applied to Vanderbilt Direct Entry also. I didn't realize that they did interviews, though! How did you arrange that? Did they contact you and ask you to interview? I haven't hear anything like that from them. I wonder if that's a sign that I'm not getting in if they haven't asked to interview me...

MedVision - Have you heard anything about an interview?

I got an envelope in the mail from them the other day with Financial Aid info. It was such a tease!

My stats are pretty strong. I have a 3.7 GPA and high 1400s on my GREs.

I applied to the Psych nursing that is why I got an interview. Vanderbilt does not interview for any of the other specialities. You stats sound great mine were very low I have a 3.0 and got a 1070 on the GRE's. I just have my fingers crossed that the letters of rec and my essays will pull me through. I think we are not supposed to hear from them until the end of Feb beginning of March but if any one gets their letters sooner please do tell..... I talked with them yesterday aboutthe finicial aid package they send it to everyone who applies. But good luck to all. I will write baout the interview after it happens.

Emarble I couldn't figure out how to pm you but my stats are comparable to yours. I actually had to take the GRE twice to exceed their minimum requirement. If it is any comfort the average score for last yr's incoming class was 1040 and I think the average GPA was like a 3.2 or 3.3. Best of luck on your interview!

Thanks for clarifying, emarble, and thanks for the stats, MedVision.

I'll let you both know if I hear anything.

Hey Everyone,

I had the interview on Thursday and it was tough. They told me for the Psych class they had 40 applicants and 20 open seats. I dont know if this is similair to the other programs but I thought it might help. Also they use a typical ranking system. So you know 1-5 on the GRE is probably 1000-1600 you get a 1 for a 1000 and a 5 for 1600. And then they rank as all and see who falls out. So if your scores are low hopefully your letters and essays are done well. Best wishes to everyone and if anyone hears anything please share. : ) Also did you see the price ? Good lord I was not expecting to pay that much for a two year education !!!!!! I looked around though and everyone else is also similar.

Thanks for the info, emarble! They must need to accept more than 20 students because I'm sure that some people they accept will go elsewhere. So, that's a >50% acceptance rate. That's not too bad!

I'm applying for Pediatrics and I received an email late last year asking if I planned to do the specialty year in Nashville or if I'd do it in my home state because they only have a limited number of clinical placements in Nashville. It made it sound like it was much harder to get in if you planned to stay in Nashville (which I do). So, that was a little discouraging.

Emarble I know you did a fabulous job!!!! :-) I think they accept 50 ish out of hundreds of FNP applicants. Very stressful considering the amount and quality of applicants. I like your odds much better!! The cost is off the charts, I've considered applying to ABSN programs, working and having an employer pay for my Master's. Though the cost for these programs around here (being Nashville) are equivalent to prespecialty yr at . Decisions, decisions, decisions, hang in there!!

Abbie Grace it sounds like you may be local, have you applied to other nursing programs in town or various entry level masters around the country?

I also had my interview for Psych (pre-specialty) at Vanderbilt last week. I got the same info as you about 20 slots for 40 applications...that's way better odds that some of other Psych NP programs around the country. Thanks for the info on how they rank us.

I got my letter and I got accepted ! yay ! did anyone else hear yet ?
