Published

Hi guys! Vanderbilt's nurse residency program for Summer 2021 opened up yesterday. I'm starting this thread so we can all keep up with the process together! Who is applying?

Anyone else applying for other nurse residencies in Nashville? I’ve been looking into everywhere for critical care but it seems like all places are doing interviews and filling spots way before Vanderbilt even calls people. Vanderbilt is my first choice but it’s kind of terrifying to put all my eggs in one basket and just hope Vanderbilt works out...

Yeah I understand. I did all critical care preference for Vanderbilt. I just have to record my video today. I was thinking about applying to Tristar centennial, but I don’t know much about their hospital or program. What residencies have already been calling people that you know of?

HCA (Tristar Centennial, Skyline, etc.) has already made job offers to a couple people in my class. They're holding interviews right now. They're trying to snatch people up before they can interview at any of the other facilities in Nashville. I've been putting off interviewing with them because they make offers within a couple days of interviewing and you have to respond within 5 days.

Hey guys I'm from Wisconsin, and I graduate in April ? I'm super excited about Vanderbilt and Nashville - I just visited there a few weeks ago! That's crazy that you have to decide about a job at HCA within 5 days of interview...

Did you guys attach letters of rec for the first portion of the application. Also, if you did do you guys just ask for general letters of rec and then keep them? Or are you asking people to keep writing you letters?

I attached a list of references just in case but that’s it. They’re not looking at letters of recommendation this year so I wouldn’t worry about it unless you have to have one for another facility.

I only attached one letter of rec.

For those of you that did the video part do they give you the same questions as the ones they asked in the application? Or different? And can you re record at a different time or has to be when you start it.

They asked similar questions, but not the exact same. I'm not sure if you can exit and come back to it. But you can re-record as many times as you want.

Yeah what @clparr96 said. There are 5 questions and the questions will come up one at a time. You have as much time as you need to think about your answer, and you can record whenever. The recording allows 3 minutes to answer and you can redo it as many times as you want. I don't think you can close it and come back later though after you start it. I could be wrong though.

Has anyone heard anything?

I think I read somewhere that we should start to hear back around the end of Feb and Beginning of March. I could be wrong though.
