Anyone applying to VUMC's Nurse Residency Program that will be starting October 2016? The application opens in May!

If anyone from previous cohorts currently work there, any advice is welcome!

I just received an offer off the waitlist! I am moving from South Carolina and will be looking for roommates too. I am looking forward to meeting all of you!

That is so exciting @RNmack ! Which unit? Congrats!!

Adult Inpatient Medicine Unit!

Our facebook page is supposed to be created tomorrow, I'm so excited!! I graduate on Monday and plan to test in September. Has anyone tested already?

Specializes in Neuro ICU.

I took the NCLEX in Florida but I'm in the process of endorsing it in Tennessee!

Which unit are you on? (: @AlBradz

Hey y'all! I'm currently in my first year as a nurse resident and would be happy to help try and answer any questions! Congrats to all who've been accepted...Vanderbilt is an amazing place to work!

HI, everyone! I am applying for FNP this fall.

My GPE in USA is 4.0.

I graduated pharmacist (from overseas) and my GPE is around 3.0.

I am currently in nursing program still maintaining 4.0, but my GRE is below average... English is not my first language and I struggled on the exam.

Are there any chances to get into the program with low GPA on board?

Interviewing for the Winter 2017 cohort. I applied for the SICU track. What are interviews like? What about unit interviews? Pay? Good, bad, ugly?

Thanks!

Those of you who applied for the Fall 2016 residency, I have a few questions!

First of all, did you graduate in May?

I currently will be graduating in May and am debating on whether to apply for the Summer 2017 or Fall 2017 track. The Summer 2017 spots will begin mid-June, as opposed to Fall spots starting beginning of October. Because I graduate May 20th, just having a month to take the NCLEX and recover from nursing school seems to be a bit much.. On the other hand, not having a job 3-4 months and banking on one residency in the Fall may not be smart.

Was wondering if anyone had advice on how they chose when to apply and how they like it. Thank you!

With a program as competitive and highly regarded as VUMC's, I'd definitely suggest applying for the summer cohort. If you aren't accepted, you can re-apply for the fall cohort, which from what I've heard tends to have a lower number of applicants, but also may potentially have fewer spots available. If you are accepted, starting in June is definitely a quick turnaround, but I can't say enough good things about my time in the nurse residency, so personally I think it'd be worth it!

Hi everyone! Im applying for the Vanderbilt Nurse Residency Program Summer 2017 cohort! I will be applying to the Critical Care track in the SICU and wanted to get any feed back from those of you who got hired into critical care, specifically the SICU. How many people got hired in the SICU, do you know how many they plan to hire this summer, etc.? Any help/feedback would be appreciated! Congrats to all who got hired!
