Vanderbilt CNM/FNP 2014

Published

Hello fellow nurses!

Soooo.. I am preparing to apply to Vanderbilt University's dual CNM/FNP program for Fall 2014 and wanted to start a thread rather than [COLOR=#1c7dff]searching for info on here. I've been studying for the GRE cause I haven't taken it yet - planning to take it at the end of October. I'm heading to Nashville next month to check out the city cause I've never been! I'm a little freaked out, but overall excited because I know this is what I want and I think Vanderbilt offers a great option with this joint program.

Anyone currently in the program with some sage advice or details about the curriculum?

Anyone else looking to apply? Thoughts, fears, future career plans? Compulsive comparisons of GPA, GRE scores and work experience? :)

It's a great school and the faculty are very affable.

I am currently an RN at vanderbilt, and will be applying to the fall FNP program as well. Just studying for the GRE now. Good luck preping.

I am hoping to apply to the FNP program only, full time. Here is my information:

GPA: ADN program 3.9

I graduate with my BSN in 6 months, I currently have a 3.83 overall

Experience: 2 years in ICU, ACLS & TNCC

GRE: scheduled for the end of September.

I am really nervous about my low experience level hurting my chances of getting in. I am planning on heading down in October to the open house. Is anyone else? Or has anyone been and knows what to expect?

Hi all! I am taking the GRE tomorrow for the first time. Took a Kaplan course, hopefully it did some good. My ideal would be to score a 160, which is about the 85th percentile I believe, and is well above average. We shall see!

I actually have decided to change my choice of specialty and am now applying to the acute care NP track.

@aruttan84 .. it doesn't look like you have much to be nervous about considering your experience and GPA. I only have a 3.4 nursing GPA, although a much higher pre-req GPA, and 1.5 years experience in the float pool.

Good luck to everyone. I'm planning to have my application complete by mid-November.

Well I took the GRE today... it was harder than I anticipated. I scored 156 quantitative and 158 verbal, still awaiting written score. Hopefully it's good enough cause I don't plan to retake it.

Hi all! I am applying to Vandy's pre-specialty program. I am trying to figure out how to upload a CV to the application before I submit it, but cannot figure it out! Does anyone know if it is even a possibility? Or if there is another way to get it included in our application? Thank you!

I'm applying to their AG-ACNP program. Like you, I see nowhere to upload a CV. I believe including the information that would be in your CV into your Statement of Purpose would be appropriate. Hope this helps. Good luck. I know it's a somewhat daunting process.

jackpp, I hope you found the place where you could upload your CV! It was after submitting the application. Good luck to all!

I saw that too. Would have been nice to know that was an option before though.

It had it in small print at the beginning of the application, on the first "home" page. I saw it on one of my last go throughs of my application haha.

Specializes in Pediatric Emergency.

Does anyone know when they usually make acceptance decisions?
