Valencia College 2019 Orlando

Published

Hello!

I have a question for any Valencia College students in Orlando, Florida. How many of you are currently waiting to be accepted into nursing school for 2019? I submitted my application in June 2018, got wait-listed before the Spring term started. I'm currently waiting to be accept for the Summer or Fall 2019 term. Please share the date you submitted your application, if you've been accepted or any news on the status of your application. Would love to share our experiences. THANKS!

I have been emailing Kate Martin, I email her every couple of weeks (probably is annoyed of me lol). I have even tried asking her how many were wait listed for the spring time, because i do not want to get my hopes up and be wait listed again. She couldn't tell me but I hoping I get it in. I put my application in August 15, I finish my AA this semester. I really do not want to take a semester off.

Good to know! Thank you!

@OrlandoNursing Thanks for that timeline! I'm so surprised that you weren't selected for Spring, considering your application was submitted so early! There was no additional explanation? Did you get an email stating that they were considering your app for Summer 2019? TBH, I would email them ASAP if you haven't gotten any sort of indication that you're being reviewed for summer. :/

Looking back at past forums, I can't make sense of their admission/waitlist timing. I felt like I submitted sort of early for the recommended deadline, but now I'm not so sure.

It's honestly so confusing! People who applied late got in, but people who applied early got waitlisted? I think the key is to apply late lol

@Batsy Yeah, very confusing. That was all I was told via email. I will be getting in contact with my advisor Monday. Ill keep everyone updated.

Have you applied? What have you heard so far?

I think that's the same one I received! I wonder why they just sent it today? Maybe they're catching up on applications submitted around Winter Break?

When I applied back in November, the first email I actually received from them stated that my application was submitted incomplete due to "Missing ATIC scores." I had that corrected by the Assessment Center (because I had completed the TEAS on campus already) and then emailed Health Sciences Application team to inform them that my record had been corrected. They sent me confirmation for the application review on the following business day.

This makes me wonder if they check your the reqs ahead of decision time, possibly when you receive email confirmation? Do you also find yourself overanalyzing the timing of their emails? I'm going nuts looking over these forums.

Hi Batsy,

Yes I find myself checking my emails daily. I just don’t want to miss something. To answer your question regarding the timing of my email, yes I think they are catching up to people who applied just before winter break. I don’t believe any of us will be able to figure out the waitlist process with the different day/night programs and the different campuses. After reading some of the responses on this and other threads, it makes me think that either the applicants haven’t met the requirements or GPA and/or they are ranking people who apply and picking from that. But, keeping my fingers crossed for all of us!!

@BSN2277 For me, its so confusing especially when I've met all the requirements and my GPA is a 3.4 ? Im just so anxious to start!

I applied for daytime Traditional in November. There was an issue with my initial submission, though; the composite TEAS score wasn't input by the Assessment Center (they only put in the individual section scores). The Health Sciences Applications team emailed me within 24 hours to let me know that the TEAS score was missing. Within 24 hours after the Assessment Center corrected my score, they emailed me with the review/evaluation confirmation. That last email was on 11/29. It makes me wonder if they do a once-over of applications at the time that they send the application confirmation?

Yessss...I noticed this, too. I also saw that some people who applied to both daytime & evening would get accepted for evening and waitlisted for daytime. Maybe that's also part of the confusion, like @BSN2277 was saying? It seems like there are so many variables at play that it's impossible to determine your actual chances, lol.

That could be it! I think my biggest anxiety right now is receiving some type of email stating that my application is ineligible for some reason or another. I think it's an irrational fear because the requirements are all there...but a fear nonetheless, lol. I'm hoping we can all get some positive resolution soon! :)

I honestly regret not applying for both but I was never a fan of night classes anyway.

This makes a lot of sense honestly. That's something that an nursing advisor told me recently. The nursing advisors told met there's no reason why you shouldn't get into the semester that you applied for.
