Valencia College 2019 Orlando

Nursing Students General Students

Hello!

I have a question for any Valencia College students in Orlando, Florida. How many of you are currently waiting to be accepted into nursing school for 2019? I submitted my application in June 2018, got wait-listed before the Spring term started. I'm currently waiting to be accept for the Summer or Fall 2019 term. Please share the date you submitted your application, if you've been accepted or any news on the status of your application. Would love to share our experiences. THANKS!

Hello! Good luck on your application! I hope your wait is nearly over!

I applied in November (started 11/20, submitted 11/28) for the traditional Summer 2019 program. I haven't heard anything since 11/29 when I received a confirmation email that the application had been received and will be reviewed/evaluated for summer. It also stated, "You can expect to receive correspondence on the status of your application by the end of March 2019 (subject to change)." The end of March seems a bit late, but maybe I'm wrong? Any insights here?

Batsy,

I'm a little concerned as I submitted my application 12/17 and paid with the "application submitted" date shown as 12/19. However, I never received any email other than the initial one which was basically a mirror of the application I had filled out. I haven't received any correspondence on the status of my application. Do you think you did because it was in November which didn't have the mad rush of applicants like December?

Thanks!

Hi There!

I'm sorry you got waitlisted. I have been reading and there appears to be a lot of students waiting to get in to the program. One question, did they tell you you didn't get in and that they would roll you into the Summer term automatically, or do you have to re-apply? Did you apply day/night and which campus?

I'm thinking that I will get waitlisted to the fall as I applied in December. I'm okay with that as I can continue working towards my AA so that when I get out, I can go directly on to the course work for my BSN.

Good Luck!

I'm surprised you did not get into spring 2019, I seen a couple of people who applied in July get into the program. They are a first come, first serve or supposed to be. What program did you select for?

Never mind Batsy, as I just received me email today. It states that they are reviewing my application for Summer 2019 and will let me know something by the end of March.

I think that's the same one I received! I wonder why they just sent it today? Maybe they're catching up on applications submitted around Winter Break?

When I applied back in November, the first email I actually received from them stated that my application was submitted incomplete due to "Missing ATIC scores." I had that corrected by the Assessment Center (because I had completed the TEAS on campus already) and then emailed Health Sciences Application team to inform them that my record had been corrected. They sent me confirmation for the application review on the following business day.

This makes me wonder if they check your the reqs ahead of decision time, possibly when you receive email confirmation? Do you also find yourself overanalyzing the timing of their emails? I'm going nuts looking over these forums.

How do you know it'll be end of march? I would told it's February 15.

I never received an email at all about the reviewing my application and what not. I wonder why they never sent me one? I applied on 12/7, however they didn't get my payment until 1/3, which is kind of concerning. With all of this waitlist talk, it's kind of disappointing considering that I graduated with my A.A last May, and I'd literally be doing nothing for the next 7 months other than working when I wanted to start school now. Honestly thinking about having other choices and a plan B just incase I do get waitlisted because I really want to start in Summer. I spoke to a lady who was a nursing advisor back sometime around November/December and she said that they raised the amount of people that they accept into the program, and that not a lot of people got waitlisted for summer who originally applied for Spring. She also said that not a lot of people apply for Summer because everyones intimidated to take Nursing I over the summer with there being less time than a normal semester. She told me there's no reason why I shouldn't get in and that most people who get accepted for Summer usually defer until Fall anyway.

They stated that in the confirmation email they sent me: "by the end of March (subject to change)." I was hoping they were just being conservative with that estimate! Whp told you Feb 15?

I totally feel you. I actually enrolled in 2015 to do the prerequisites, finished them up in a year, and then BAM - life happened. I was finally able to get my family situation stable enough to take the TEAS and apply for the program this past fall. Waiting another semester or two would be challenging, but I would understand if they really do have a lot of people waitlisted. Hopefully your payment processing doesn't throw off the timing of your application! I know waiting another 7 months would feel like forever!

I'm crossing my fingers that they were right regarding what they've told you about Summer. I had wondered if a summer start would be more difficult due to the shorter term length, but I'm totally ready to hit the ground running. It seems like you are, too. :)

HELLO AGAIN EVERYONE ?,

Thank you for your input. I should specify some things first,

1. I've applied to the traditional daytime track through VALENCIA.

2. This is how my correspondence has gone thus far,

  • 6/25/2018: Submitted my application (just double checked my atlas)
  • 6/26/2018: received an email saying that my application will be reviewed for FALL 2018.
  • 7/03/2018: received an email saying that my application will be reviewed for SPRING 2019.

10/25/2018: received an email saying that "

your application was not selected at this time. If a seat becomes available before the November 9th, 2018, Program Orientation, we will contact the next eligible applicant. Please continue to monitor your Atlas email account for further updates.

If you are not contacted by November 9th, 2018, your application will be “rolled over” to a future term.

Thank you for your patience."

That is the last email I received. Also, I should mention that I've met all the requirements to get into the program. It's a little discouraging but I'm trying to stay positive.

Any advice?
