Valedictorian, but not announced

Well--I graduated today, and as I was walking off the stage, the director of the pgm says to me, "well, congratulations, you're Valedictorian, but he forgot to announce it." But he sure "remembered" to announce the Salutatorian. I am so disappointed b/c--face it--part of the fun of being Valedictorian is for them to announce your name in front of everyone and let everyone know of your accomplishments. Not to mention the fact that I am 8 months pregnant and you just don't mess with or disappoint a woman in my condition (LOL).

I know this does not "tarnish" the honor, but, darnnit, I am upset.

OOhh, I feel your pain. I was the only one to get A's in every semester, and they didn't mention it at all. I got mentioned for getting an A in the last semester, but not for all of them!

It's OK. Just know that you rock! Plus, everybody probably knows that you were the Valedictorian anyway.:balloons: Congrats!

how the heck do you remember the salutatorian and forget the valedictorian? wouldn't saying the former automatically remind you to mention the latter...?

I understand your frustrations. I am sorry. You did such a great job, by becoming valedictorian while preggers!

I was the only student in my program to get an A every semester. (in both the day and evening program, 88 students total) However, I was not named valedictorian. They forgot to include the evening students (which I was one of). Yes, I was fuming. I was also embarrassed since all of my class mates were looking at me when the announcement was about to be made. Yes, several asked me about it. I shrugged it off. It would have been nice to put on my resume. I chose not to make a stink about it. I wanted to be able to use several instructors and the program head as references. If I made a stink, I would look like a sore looser. After all, who (besides me and my family) would remember even 5 years from then? Where would it get me? The other student was announced, and got to make a speech. Yes, I feel cheated, but its not a big deal in the long run. But it sure did seem like a big deal at the time. I was heartbroken for months. They no longer announce Valedictorians at the school I attended.

I feel for you. I really do know how it feels to be cheated. You did great and Im sure your family and classmates are very proud of you!

I was offered valedictorian for the college this year. I say offered because if you refuse to make a speech in front of thousands of people they yank it away from you :lol2: and give it to the next person in line.

Public speaking gives me hives so I passed. I guess that would make me valedictorian of the nursing program too since it's part of the college and all, but no matter. I'm not attending pinning either. Vacation time for me! Followed by a serious attempt to put the past few years farrrrrrrr behind me.
