So you want to show examples at the highest nursing possible. For example as a director of nursing: examples of collaboration that influenced the group you were leading, they wanted copies of any policies you may have made. You don’t want to show examples that affected a certain individual patient or nurse, but examples that showed how you were able to influence a floor, a hospital, anything in the larger scheme of things.
how long does it typically take for your board action to come back? my proficiency 2019 was due last October, still have not received any board action for reconsideration letter... now my manager is asking for proficiency for 2020 without even giving me a chance to write a reconsideration letter. I've been a nurse 5yrs.. RN 1 step III ... was denied RN 2 previous year... please help! thank you
Yes, what the above poster said. My nurse manager went over it with me and I also asked another girl who got hired at a local VA what they were asking for. They really want specific examples of everything and lots of details. Anything that you think may be insignificant, you should include it.

What nursing degree do you have? Associates or BSN? Typically at my VA after two years of work at BSN you should be in a position To make nurse 2. Did your manager help you with the best way to write your proficiency to set you up for success?
Typically the nurse professional standard board meets every few weeks. If it’s been that long without an answer I would reach up the chain immediately that is unacceptable. You should be allotted time to contend if you didn’t get her nurse 2. Good luck let me know if I can be of assistance. Btw what is your current role?

I am new to the VA system and have been offered a tentative job and I sent my NPSB to the board and it got sent back with 5/9 dimensions that needed "better examples" for a nurse 2 position. I was wondering if anyone had any examples of resource utilization, performance, collaboration, and quality of care. I thought that I submitted some top notch examples but apparently not LOL. The examples that they originally sent weren't very specific. Thanks!
Did they send your packet back because you’re trying to appeal for nurse 2? Or did they initially offer you nurse 1 based on your examples for boarding?
I’m in the process of writing my 9 nursing standard examples to a unit for board as a new hire.

The best thing I can tell you is that your examples need to be focused on how your actions affected the service (Nursing Department) or the organization as a whole. For Research, if you did a literature review and changed your practice with your patient (Nurse 1 example). If you then shared the information you learned with your unit’s coworkers through a discussion or presentation (Nurse 2). If you created a poster or did a presentation for multiple units (ICU, Med/Surg, ED, etc) (Nurse 3).
Make sure to broaden it out and see how it affects the most people.
Good Luck @Eloisa
