2 VA interviews, not hired and a few EL's waitting. Dont know what i have done wrong in not nailing the interviews (one was personal the other a phone) different VAs. Can anyone shine a little light. Im verry eager to work at the VA. I know theres similar older post that i have followed thru it but Im wondering if any new ones have arrived with new bright Shine Light on this voyage with my VA hiring process... Thank You in advance.

Are you a veteran? I've heard rumors that the VAis only hiring vets right now. But then again that's a rumor not confirmed.

No VA here, maybe thats why, who knows, but I know and I understand that they have priority over us (civilians) I respect that for crying outloud they defend our country! Beside that if it was true why having me go thru interviews, is a little frustrading not knowing why not hired or what went wrong twice different VAs interviews. Thanks Keylimesqueez :)

Veterans get preference in the VA hiring system. If they're disabled, they get double the points, so yes, if you're competing with vets for the job, chances are slim that you'll get it. If, for some reason, a hiring manager chooses to hire you over a qualified vet, there's paperwork they have to fill out to explain why they hired you versus the vet.

Thanks SoldierNurse, I was beating my self-up wondering what I have done wrong. At least I might be able to stand another interview. I was a little down because after all the waitting from aplying to the interview its a long road, and not nailing the job uff... but Im a fighter I will go thru it Again :) Thanks

Chances are, you've not done anything wrong. How many years of experience do you have? The odds are kinda stacked against you.

True, I only have 9months working RN (BSN) finished 2012 but got my lic @2013. But Im always clear and honest with my experiences and always look for job opportunities that will accept at least no exp required. I also have a Medical Assistant diploma that i took before going to nursing. I did take it to see if it was what I still wanted to do, and loved it. So I went after my nursing a yr after. Maybe my prep is helping but no my exp.
