Hi Guys,
My application at VA hospital was recently processed for consideration. They are asking me to submit reference letters from my previous employers. Has anyone heard of this? I have provided them references as my previous employer supervisor's email and phone number etc. But they need actual reference letters. Anyone has any experience on this? Thank you all

Yes. I had to have people type up and submit reference letters when I applied.
Is this something can be written by co-workers or supervisors?
Yes. I had a co-worker write one of them.

I didn't need reference letters but maybe because I worked there three years ago and had to leave for medical reasons.

I was asked to provide 4 references (name, address, email and phone #) on a word doc. 1 of the references had to be specifically a nurse reference (I.e. a peer) that can speak about my nursing abilities. My references were not asked to write letters. They were called and were asked a series of questions (I.e. would you recommend this person, etc). Hope this helps!
