Hey all, I'm applying the the University of West Georgia nursing program for Summer 2016 and the deadline is getting close. I was hoping to get a bunch of us together on a forum for some moral support while we play the waiting game!
I'm hoping to get in with a 3.3 GPA, a previous Bachelors, a 90.5% on the HESI, and living in Coweta/Applying to Newnan.
I've seen these forums for previous years ('13 and '14) so I'm hoping we can band together this year too.
Congratulations to everyone! I also got accepted into Newnan campus. Does anyone know how the first semester schedule will be like, as in, how many times a week do we have to go to class and from what time to what time?
Congrats!! Class schedule will be Monday and Wednesday 4-6:50 and Tuesday and Thursday 3-5:50. I'm already working on getting my work schedule worked around it. Has anyone received a paper letter in the mail yet? Also I'm waiting on information about how to buy books. I have saved up the money and want to buy them ASAP since we need them by orientation and I'd like to poke through them.
Congrats to everyone! I was accepted to the Cton campus for the summer. Did not realize that we needed the books for orientation, so I am glad to be reminded--gotta scrimp and save:) I already graduated from their Honor's college with a degree and was previously a medic in the military, but that seems like eons ago. Needless to say, I am nervous about going back. I am wondering if I should consider doing honors in nursing as well? The handbook says to let them know up front, but I would really like to wait until I get in there and see how tough it is going to be, before I decide to heap on extra work. Anyone else considering honors?
I am also curious about the "Wireless mobile device". They suggest Apple products, but I am clueless w Apple stuff--prefer Android/Samsung. I am assuming they are referring to a tablet, since it says it may or may not have phone capabilities. What are the thoughts on this? I am probably overthinking as usual. lol
I'm also considering honors, but with working full time I don't want to pile on extra work too fast I'm going to talk to my advisor about the workload and then make a decision. As for Apple products, yes, my family all pitched in and got me an iPad mini for my birthday for school. I can do work and use my books on it (the book bundle we are going to get can be viewed through its own app) so I would highly suggest one of those for ease of transport for your materials. Ipads are fairly easy to work with (being a Samsung user myself) so you shouldn't have a problem there.
Thanks for the reply. Where did you find info on the textbook bundle/iPad? Wondering how many gigs the Apple needs to be to hold the textbooks, etc? I also have to send this info to VA for reimbursement (one of these years).
I kinda just stumbled upon it. In the email update before we got our decisions they gave a breakdown of costs and said it was an Elsiver book bundle and I figured if they were going to ask for a tablet type thing there might be an app to hold all of your books. And there is for Elsiver books. They should give us more information this week (as I may be wrong here, this is mostly conjecture). I have a 64gb ipad, but a 32 or even a 16 if you utilize cloud storage should be just fine.

The username and password were sent in the Summer & Fall Registration email from April 13th, but there is no new info about the CNA, as it still states if not certified by the 1st then dropped.
