Hi all!
I am trying to get in to the nursing program at UWF for the fall semester of 2011. I am currently taking pre reqs at PJC and will be done by the end of this spring semester. I was a former architecture student and did not like what all that the profession entailed, so I decided to go nursing. (to be quite honest I was always interested in something medical) Anyhow I was wondering how hard it is to get into this program. I know the minimum gpa the school requires is a 2.75 but from what i've heard and have been reading hardly ever will this admit you into the program. Seems like everyone that gets in has a much higher gpa than this. Also i know the TEAS exam precent requirement is 73%. I take it on Dec. 21, just in time for Christmas lol If anyone out there knows anything about how hard it is to get in to this school your advice is much appreciated. Also I'm going to try to apply to the University of South Alabama and was thinking about applying to UNF as well. Any advice about getting in to these schools is welcome and wated too :) I just want to get into some program and get my bachelors degree. lol I've been in school for a while and have lost some time due to the major switch, but I'm ready to get in and get done lol Thanks for the help.

Congrats ania86fl! Good luck in the program! Lexicon, sorry to hear you were not accepted. I hope one of the other programs will work out for you. They put me on the alternate list, but I have already been accepted everywhere else I applied, and I decided to attend UCF. I am actually moving to Orlando this weekend, and I start school in about 3 weeks, so I am pretty excited. I was a little worried about moving, but I figure I will take this denial from UWF as a sign I made the right choice.

This includes a list of the common pre-reqs.
Hi! I am a freshman pre-BSN major here, and the common pre-reqs listed are to be taken in addition to the general studies courses. A few of them count as both pre-reqs and general studies credits. I do not know the average GPA, but a 3.5 is recommended for a better chance of getting into the program.

uf is supposed to have a really good nursing program. i considered applying to their accelerated program, but they require the gre. i attempted studying for the gre, but i just didn't feel like i had the time to study enough to actually do well on the exam. i got my first degree at uwf, and i really wouldn't mind staying here because all my friends are here, but my husband really doesn't want to be in this area anymore. uwf will also take a bit longer than the accelerated programs, but it would be nice having the summers off to do some internships or gain other work experience.
