UW Seattle 2021 ABSN

Published

Hi everyone! I was wanting to start a forum for those of us applying to the ABSN program at the University of Washington for Fall 2021. It would be cool to get to know some applicants especially with COVID 19 as a huge factor in our academics and health care experience. I graduated this Spring from UW Seattle with my degree in Medical Anthropology and Global health with a minor in gender women, and sexualities studies. My overall undergrad GPA was a 3.35 and my natural world GPA is around a 3.5. I’ve been working as a med tech and caregiver at an assisted living facility since March with direct care with covid 19 patients. I also have experience volunteering in guatamela for over a month a few years ago, and have conducted research at UW on indigenous centered care. I also plan on applying to the early admissions to DNP for midwifery! Looking forward to hearing from you all!

The program has been mostly online this fall quarter but we're scheduled to do in-person clinicals beginning Winter quarter ? The course schedule hasn't been altered at all--taking the same classes, but online instead of in-person.

Specializes in CNA.

For anyone still looking to apply to the uw BSN program look up the future nurses club at uw on facebook. They’re doing an application review for your BSN apps. Just saw the post today. I did it the first time and got great suggestions on my application.

Hi @adri.aco, I've been wanting to ask if any updates on the ABSN waitlist would be coming out soon? I haven't heard of any movement yet. Thank you! ?

Has anyone on the waitlist heard back yet?
Also if you’re on the waitlist have you applied for Post-Bacc admissions yet?

@AjOb I have not heard back yet about the waitlist but I did apply for Post-Bacc admission!

Thanks for responding! ?

can I ask how you answered the question about seeking admission to an undergraduate program with selective admission? It essentially is telling post bac applicants that if we are not accepted to our major we will not be admitted to the university... I’m assuming we just say we’re on the waitlist but it’s the weirdest question to me.

@AjOb Yeah I was confused by that question too! I contacted UW admissions when I was finishing up my application to ask them how waitlisted people typically respond. They told me that it's fine to say I am on the waitlist and that UW SON encouraged me to apply to the University. I think once someone is admitted off of the waitlist, the School of Nursing lets UW know to admit them. From what I understand, the university application is more of a formality, but I still took the essay portion seriously LOL! If you have any other questions lmk. Hope we both get good news soon! ?

Ah okay that makes sense. Thanks so much!
I definitely hope we get good news soon!! Good luck! Let me know if you hear back too ?

@AjOb You're welcome! Best of luck to you too-this wait has been so hard but I'm staying positive that it will pay off for us!

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is doing well. I just posted this on the other forum we have going on here but I figured I would post it here as well. Has anyone heard about any movement on the waitlist? I understand the majority of the movement on the waitlist seems to happen in the Summer, but if anyone has experience or knows when we might get any updates about where we are on the waitlist (if there has been any movement) I would appreciate it! Just trying to figure out my Summer schedule in regards to any final prerequisite courses to take and my work schedule. ? Thanks in advance!

Hi! I hope you're doing well also. I personally have not heard anything, however, I know someone else from the waitlist reached out recently and UW told them there has been no waitlist movement and they do not anticipate the waitlist moving until June or July. I would suggest reaching out to them directly if you need to plan ahead for the Summer. Hope this is helpful!

Hi again! Knowing that movement might occur around June/July is actually super helpful! Thanks so much.
