Seattle U APNI 2021
https://www.seattleu.edu/nursing/DNP/apni/ Yeah, no problem! Happy to help ? This is the APNI information page. You'll find the handbook as a downloadable document on the right-hand side. I would also consider doing an information session if you haven't already done so. Not sure when the next one is but I believe they usually start in the Summer? There's also a pretty detailed Q&A on that APNI information page. I found all those resources pretty helpful. Good luck with your application! Feel free to message me if you have any more questions.

No problem! I was in the same boat as you prior to getting into the program. I just want to clarify, you're asking for the APNI program right? If so, SU does a pretty good job laying out a lot of the technical stuff (costs, program of study, etc) on the website, and overall costs are dependent on which track you decide to take and whether you're coming in as an APNI student or RN-DNP. There's also a graduate student handbook that you can access that is VERY in-depth and has information about the school, the program, learning outcomes, etc. Which not a lot of programs/schools allow public access to, I've found. I'm in the FNP track, so our total cost for APNI-DNP 4 year program, according to SU website, will be about $138,024. So, not cheap. LOL. Everyone's motivation, goals, and reasons for doing this type of program are different, so I can't really answer whether it will be "worth it" for you. For me, I'm 30 years old and have worked in healthcare for about 8-ish years as a CNA and an MA and I had to determine whether this is what I really wanted because it is a huge commitment. I like what my track lead asked me during my interview- first, she asked me what led me to nursing; then she dove further and asked why I want to be a DNP specifically, and why I chose this track. Because you also have to take into consideration what kind of program this is. Yes, the program prepares you to become DNPs in the end, but the first year (for APNI students) is our RN year. So you will be taught how to be an RN and think like an RN, first and foremost. After the first year, you're eligible to sit for the NCLEX, and after passing, you can work as an RN while you complete the last three years (DNP years). As far as the diversity of classes, I'm not sure what you mean by that? There are a lot of people from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities in my classes, and each of us came into this at very different points in our lives with different experiences (healthcare and non-healthcare) which has been really great in my point of view. I've learned a lot from my fellow APNI classmates so far. Hope that helps. Sorry, its kind of a long answer. LOL.

It won't let me message you either. If you feel comfortable you can ask your questions here and I'll try to answer as best as I can. If I don't have the answers, I'm sure others can try to answer too.

I was #13 on the waitlist and was accepted late July, but turned it down because I was already a quarter into another program. I'm also unsure how far down they went in the list, but it's different every year! I've heard they've gone through the whole list before (usually up to 69-71 people on the waitlist I think) and some years they barely made it through the first 10. Just hang in there, I would also submit applications to other schools and CC's while you wait... I wouldn't put all eggs into UW's basket unless it's your #1 choice and you have personal reasons to go to UW. It's a great school and all, but you just need to have one acceptance to an RN program to sit for the NCLEX. You can always come back to work at UW and you'd learn WAY more on the field vs in school, especially since all UW Medicine affiliated hospitals are all teaching hospitals. ;)

I had my interview on the 20th too but I still haven’t heard anything ? I felt like I completely botched my interview because I lost my train of thought too- but I wasn’t doing anything, it was just my brain. LOL. Where do you go to check application status?

Has anyone for APNI FNP heard back yet? The wait and anxiety is KILLING me. I also don’t feel 100% confident in my interview ? so hopes aren’t as high.

Yeah it sounds like 2-3 depending on the track. That isn’t too bad. They just interview you though right? It’s not like there are other interviewees as well? Also, did you do the current student break out session? How was that if you did? sorry I’m asking so many questions about it. I appreciate your responses though ? I guess I’m a mixture of excited/super nervous. LOL

Thanks for responding! ? can I ask how you answered the question about seeking admission to an undergraduate program with selective admission? It essentially is telling post bac applicants that if we are not accepted to our major we will not be admitted to the university... I’m assuming we just say we’re on the waitlist but it’s the weirdest question to me.

I read somewhere either on this thread or the previous cohort that the program aligns with Seattle U’s instructional calendar- so end of June for start date? I haven’t looked at it myself. Has anyone applied for financial aid yet without an acceptance?
