2021 UW-Seattle ABSN

Published

Hey ya'll!

Hope everyone is healthy and safe!

I wanted to know if anyone could share their experience (current/previous) in the ABSN program. What are the course load and clinic hours like? Is working part-time feasible? How did students pay for housing and living costs while in school (loans, scholarships, family help, etc.) What would you have done differently going into the program as well during the program? What specialities did you get to experience in your clinical rotations? Do you have a residency lined up or job offers?

Looking forward to your responses, cheers!

Hey everyone! I am also applying to the program(: Have you guys already submitted your application?

Hey everyone! I was wondering if any of you knew about what is actually required for Chemistry & Organic Chemistry? I sat in on the info session and remembered it being discussed but just want to make sure. I know we have plenty of time to get remaining classes done.
Anyone know if the Chemistry has to be Chem 1 or can it be fundamentals of Chem? I know Organic Chem can be fundamentals of organic Chem....

I want to ask the director but it’s no longer ------------------ it’s someone else now....I’m not getting a response to these questions.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks and good luck!!

Hey Bethany!

I do not think Organic Chemistry is required.

Hey folks!

I just looked on the page and ochem is required along with general Chemistry. You need 5 quarter credits for gen chem and 5 quarter credits for ochem (I'm not sure how that translates to semester since I'm also on quarter credits). At my school they offer a year long general Chemistry series with lab along with a brief two quarter ochem series with lab that I opted to take. I'm sure they'll take almost anything as long as it's Chemistry and meets the unit requirement!

Now I see it, LOL. Thank you!

They said they were looking for basic intro type courses - if that helps.

Hi all,

I am also applying to ABSN this year, and I already submit my application. I am also applying to BSN as well, just hoping to have more chances to get in. is anyone else also applying to BSN? or does anyone know if it is a good idea to use the same personal statement? I was thinking maybe I should write a different one but since it is the same major and the same school, it is kinda hard to write a different PS.

Does anyone have any thoughts on that?

Hi there! I just submitted my application as well and plan to do the same for the BSN program. I plan on submitting the same materials. I haven’t seen anything that states you can’t submit the same ps. It may be good to sit in on a info session or write to an advisor though. Hope that helps.

I’ll write again if I find out additional information.

thank you so much!

Submitted mine last night! I am very nervous since I know they said they were expecting more applicants this year than in the past.

@Future.nurse.Betty.23, I was told by a staff member at the SON info session that they do not look at your past applications, and they think its perfectly fine to reuse your personal statement or application materials.

Good luck everyone! I am glad to have you all as a resource.
