UW Oshkosh Accelerated Program Fall 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

Hi everyone,

I am currently working towards the pre-req requirements for the UW Oshkosh accelerated program (I was 'too' chemistry in my 1st degree) and was just looking to see if anyone else is applying to the fall or even the spring of 2015. I'm very interested to hear from past applicants and people currently applying!

Thanks!

You guys are killing me with the silence! How's it going for everyone so far?

Wishing everyone luck who have applied into the fall cohort! I am looking to apply into May 2016. They just confirmed all my credits transferred and I've completed all the pre-reqs. Now I just have to get that CNA under my belt and the TEAS taken. Crossing my fingers for you all, hopefully you'll be in the class just ahead of me. :) :)

So on average, how much CNA experience do most people have that get accepted? I have finished my pre-reqs and will be taking a one-month CNA training in May. Planning on working as a CNA this summer and taking the TEAS V--all with the Sept application deadline in mind (applying into May 2016 cohort.) Wondering if I'll have enough experience? I have other patient contact and many years working in healthcare, but actual CNA I'll just be starting next month..... any insight for those who have been accepted? Thanks and congrats on being in the next cohort! SO EXCITING! :)

I received my acceptance email today! So excited to be apart of the 2015 October cohort!

CONGRATS MMG!!! So exciting! I'm starting to put my application together for May 2016 (opens in July.) Finishing up my CNA class and have an interview next week for a Patient Care Tech/CNA position at our local hospital. Fingers crossed! Do you mind telling us your experience, TEAS, CNA, GPA? So happy for everyone-hopefully you're the cohort before me. ;)

I have very little CNA experience. I got a job as a CNA at a hospital in February or this year which is also when my application was due. But, I am also an ABO certified optician and did that for 3+ years when in college and a grew up working in my dad's pharmacy for 8+ years.

I finished my pre-reqs this semester, and without my last 4 credit class my transfer GPA was a 3.3 [i think, something close to that at least, which the contact person (Sue) told me was not strong at all].

I re-took the TEAS when I thought my English class was going to be deemed unacceptable, and ended up doing MUCH better. I got an 89.3% overall. My break down was as follows: Reading-92.9%, Math-86.7%, Science-93.8%, English/Language-80.0%.

I hope that gives you hope. They really must look at the overall because my CNA experience is so low to what I have read of previous people getting in. I did think my interviews went very well and my TEAS is higher than the average of the last cohort. Sue guess-timated that last cohorts TEAS score was around 81 or 82% overall. She seemed really happy that did so well in the science sections.

I really look forward to hearing if anyone else got it in. :)

Thanks MMG! So happy for you. Hopefully I'll be following in your footsteps in the cohort behind you. :)

My TEAS exam went fine. I scored 85% overall putting me in the 96th percentile nationally.

Breakdown: Reading: 88%, Math 77%, Science 88% and English 87%.

I was mad about the math, considering I was repeatedly scoring in the low/mid 90s on all the practice exams, including the ATI online practice exam. I didn't get to finish the section which surely hurt me.

I'm tempted to retake it, knowing I could get that math score up, but I'm hoping that it's okay as is.

Beginning of Aug, I started my CNA/NT position at a local post-acute care pediatric specialty care facility. I'm getting a ton of amazing experience but of course, I keep worrying I wont have logged enough CNA experience as an applicant. I had some other experience in my past they might consider but I didn't have that CNA title then.

In filling out the GPA section on the application, looks like I'll have a 3.55 for application. Sadly, I got a B in Intro to Psychology as a freshman, and that pulled it down some. All my 4 credit science courses I got A's in. Hopefully they consider that. :)

Thanks for the words of encouragement. All I'm waiting on is my CNA exam on the 28th and then I'll be sending my application off. Fingers crossed!!
