Hello,
Starting this thread to discuss how are you guys feeling? I applied for DNP FNP 2023. Anxious about timed essays.
Congrats everyone! So happy for you all!
I didn't get in this year. But I think ill apply again next year.
Would anyone who got accepted feel OK to share their stats? I'm just curious about the qualification for being accepted. I am currently a BSN student, and I'll graduate this August. So right now, I am considering my first job choice. I wonder if any experience may increase my chance to get in next year.

Did you see that they have another application for this year that's due May 1st? I believe that's the deadline. Maybe you can try again this year and try to rewrite the essay portion.
My stats: LPN in 2011 with a 3.16 GPA, ADN 2021 with a 4.0, and just finished my BSN at UW Tacoma last week with a 4.0. Professionally I worked at Dialysis and Psych rehab. I also talked to A BUNCH of NPs on LinkedIn and asked to observe them. I was able to observe 2 for 16 hours each, and I interviewed 3 others.
My volunteering resume is stacked just cuz it's my passion. I do a 1-2 week international medical mission every year since 2011, Nigeria, Ghana, India and Guatemala. I volunteered with Kiwanis of Kent, mentoring high schoolers, also volunteered whenever the Heart walk happens, I volunteered once at the diabetic association at their big expo.
My mentor said we had to show our dedication to the community (consistent volunteer work) and to the profession (NP observing). While that may seem intimidating, I believe the essay portions are what make an application strong. I started working on them 6 weeks before the deadline. Another tip she gave was to apply to be a clinical instructor at community colleges, to show that you are involved with making the next nursing generations stronger.

I did not see that. Thank you so much for letting me know!
and based on what you are saying I think my experience is very few. I just worked as a nurse tech. my volunteer experience was in a hospital before nursing school started. I am impressed by your volunteering experience! Thanks for sharing in detail!
