UTT or SFA?

I got in to UT tyler as well but im turning them down, going to UTHSCSA! I think tyler would be a better choice than SFA in my opinion, unless u like living in the middle of nowhere. Also, it depends whether u want to do the accelerated or regular. I would choose accelerated.

I think either would be fine. I moved from San Diego, CA to Nacogdoches when I was 5 (BIG culture shock!) and went to SFA for a few years part time. Didn't graduate from there, but I WAS a nursing major there. Long story, but I couldn't afford to not work full time back then, so now am finishing up pre-reqs to try an accelerated program myself in 2009. I have only heard good things about SFA's nursing program. So if you don't have a problem living in such a small town, then it should be just fine! Cost of living is pretty low, so that is a plus!

I didn't know that UTT has an accelerated program yet? Is that information posted on their website? Seems like I was looking around on there a few weeks ago and didn't notice anything about the accelerated BSN in Tyler? That's great.

I received an e-mail from UTT a couple of weeks after nursing applications were due and they said they were starting an accelerated program for people already with a bachelors. You take three classes in Spring (patho, pharm, and nursing concepts and theories) and then you start officially in May. It's a 16 month program (59 hours of nursing classes- a little fewer than normal), classes are online or ITV (I don't know if that means all or just some), and you do summer school. Clinicals are structured and unstructured but I have no idea what they mean by that. There isn't anything on the website about the program; I don't know if they are trying to keep it under wraps until they see how or if it works or if they just haven't updated their page. It's supposed to be offered every May (deadline October 15) so if you're interested you might want to keep an eye out. Hopefully it will be a good program. :)

That sounds really neat. Thanks for the info and congrats on getting accepted! The only distance learning accelerated BSN programs I had seen in Texas were through Texas Tech and that eline program with Texas A&M and Delmar. So it's nice to see that they are maybe adding others to allow more people do some distance learning while still obviously having the normal clinicals like everyone else.
