TWU - Weekend Program Fall 2009
I am hoping to apply to this program as well. I still have to finish a year of pre-reqs though, so will be doing that in the Fall/Spring semesters. I plan to apply in Sept. 2010 for the Spring '11 class. It seems so long from now! Also, I noticed that PrettyLadie had mentioned a GPA bump for students who have taken 32 hours of pre-reqs @ TWU. It's a little confusing, because that IS how it reads on their website currently (consideration given to students who have completed 32 hrs at TWU...) when you're on the WEEKEND RN section. But on the FASTRACK section, it still reads that the .40 GPA bump is issued to students who have completed 16 hrs of pre-reqs @ TWU, for post bacc students. I called to verify, and they confirmed that to be true....that for traditional students, it's 32 hrs. For post bacc students - weekend or fastrack, it's "just" the 16 hrs. I asked what would happen hypothetically if you were a post bacc student who applied to the weekend program, but didn't make it....would they still give you the .40 bump in considering you for the traditional 2-yr program as a Plan B, and she said yes.

thr nursing program
Thanks so much for the info. I had never heard of that before. I will check with the center for learning. Do you know if you have to be a full time employee, or is part time or half time okay? Are the acceptance requirements the same as if you applied directly to El Centro? I am so frustrated with preparing to apply to nursing school. Every school has different requirements (although many are the same), different application dates, etc. Sure would be a more streamlined process if they all had a standard set of criteria across the board, but I'm not sure that would ever happen!

thr nursing program
I didn't realize THR had a nursing program? Can you give me some general info? What degree do you graduate with? Any help is appreciated!

UTT or SFA?
That sounds really neat. Thanks for the info and congrats on getting accepted! The only distance learning accelerated BSN programs I had seen in Texas were through Texas Tech and that eline program with Texas A&M and Delmar. So it's nice to see that they are maybe adding others to allow more people do some distance learning while still obviously having the normal clinicals like everyone else.

UTT or SFA?
I think either would be fine. I moved from San Diego, CA to Nacogdoches when I was 5 (BIG culture shock!) and went to SFA for a few years part time. Didn't graduate from there, but I WAS a nursing major there. Long story, but I couldn't afford to not work full time back then, so now am finishing up pre-reqs to try an accelerated program myself in 2009. I have only heard good things about SFA's nursing program. So if you don't have a problem living in such a small town, then it should be just fine! Cost of living is pretty low, so that is a plus! I didn't know that UTT has an accelerated program yet? Is that information posted on their website? Seems like I was looking around on there a few weeks ago and didn't notice anything about the accelerated BSN in Tyler? That's great.
