UTMB Spring 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Howdy! I couldn't find a thread for Spring 2016, so I figured I would start my own. I'm having trouble with this whole application thing (mostly stress!), so I would love to talk to others going through this same process!

I've been working practice math problems a couple times a week for that section. The fractions are easy but I get tripped up on the wording of the problems sometimes. Even with that, I'm banking on the math and reading sections! And thanks for the testing center advice. I'll just have to stuff my pockets. Also, I'm not in FAN but I think I'll stop by. I have a bunch questions...

Hello Dfalck3! A 91 on the TEAS is really good from what I've heard! The national average is in the 50s! And about the GPAs, my sister (who was just accepted to UTMB nursing) had GPAs like that. Mine are close to that as well. I think we have a good chance of being accepted! At least I hope we do.

Ha, well good thing I invested so much effort into the letters!

Hi carolined_jones!

May I ask what are your GPAs like? Good luck on your TEAS! The math section is so simple and basic, so don't waste time in double checking every result (like I did :( ) the only thing that was more complicated was the science, but I really did not have any physics question on mine..

I know a 91 it's good but since my science GPA and overall GPA are so low, I want to put as much effort on the things I can change (Like TEAS or keep my prereq at 4.0). At the open house they did say the presentation letter was REALLY important and the interview too.. so hopefully that will work. They emphasized that if you have any medical related experience at all, it was important to put that on the presentation letter.

You can call me Caroline! I think my prereq is 3.5ish. I've calculated it for so many schools that I'm not really sure anymore. My science GPA is a little low, like 2.8ish, 2.9ish. I had a hard sophomore year :( But I'm about to get a science degree so hopefully that sways the vote in my favor.

I worked on my personal statement during spring break! That thing will be perfect before it's submitted!

I'm sure it will! You can explain that in your statement (which is what they told me to do).

I'm just so nervous because I've read past threads and people with GPAs higher than mine haven't been accepted :( I wish they didn't require all of my international credits (which are about 57 hours) but they were very clear that they needed them.

What other schools are you applying to?

My sister said that too (about the GPAs)! According to her, the TEAS and interview are what set you apart. That's why I'm getting nervous about it. This is my first nursing exam.

I haven't taken micro yet so I'm limited for applications. It wasn't in my degree plan and I kept telling myself I'd take it this past summer but I took other classes. Anyway, I'm only applying to UTMB right now. That's the only school that's flexible with micro.

Don't be nervous about it! I'm sure it will be great. Also, you can re-take it if you are not happy with your scores (They do check the amount of times you have re-take it though). All I did was use the ATi book and do the two practice test that came in the package (WHICH ARE HARDER than the actual test)

I think you're still pretty competitive!

Hi, I'm Madison and I'm hoping to apply for spring, summer, or fall 2016 (honestly I'll take any semester they'll accept me lol). I'm still working on my prereqs and haven't taken the TEAS yet, so I dunno how useful I'd be to this thread, but I thought I'd at least introduce myself. I'm at UT Austin right now doing Human Development and Family Sciences. Hope to get to know y'all better. :)

Howdy! I submitted my application last Thursday and was notified by NCAS today that it was verified! Good luck to everyone applying!

Do we send our transcripts to nursingCAS only or to UTMB as well?

Has anyone had an interview yet? I just submitted my supplemental application to UTMB and I'm wondering how long I'll be waiting to hear back from them.
