UTMB Spring 2015 Applicants

Hey Y'all,

I read through the whole UTMB Fall 2014 thread and thought I'd start the next semesters thread (because I couldn't find one). I know the application doesn't close until May 31st, but thought it would be helpful to start this now.

I hope not! I'm just hoping to get in! I'm trying to keep my mind on other things but it's not really working out!! Does anyone know how many spots they have, and how many applicants applied?

132 spots. Not sure how many applicants applied, but I was 100% sure I had bombed my interview and that I wasn't going to get in. I even walked out of my interview, saw my boyfriend outside, and burst into tears. I later emailed my interviewer to ask a question and she told me how wonderful I was. 8 days later, I was accepted. Don't doubt yourself and hang in there. You've got this!

Thanks for your support! It's really nice that you are still positng and helping people feel comfortable with the application process! I'm just trying to keep busy! I would think that if this is still the first group of interviews this would be the strongest applicants. I would also assume that if you got an interview then you should look good on paper, and they just want to get a feel of your personality. I don't want to get my hopes up though!

No problem at all! My pleasure! If I were still in your shoes I would want someone who had already done it to be there for me. (I can't complain, the people that interviewed around the same time I did were all super supportive.)

My interviewer said just that during the initial trying to help me relax period. She said that obviously you're doing something right if you were selected for an interview and right now we're just trying to see if you're going to fit into the UTMB family cause that's really what they are. They asked me a great deal about my support system and how I felt like I was going to handle nursing school.

Keep your head held high and go in there with a smile on your face and ready to tell them that this is your dream and you refuse to give up on it. I told me interviewer at the end basically what I said in my personal statement, if you pick me you won't regret it cause I want it more than anyone else and if I'm accepted my gratefulness will show in my performance. (It was said much more eloquently than it is written here lol).

If it makes anyone feel better, I got accepted on mystar early morning on a Friday (a day after jbrown), so don't feel discouraged if Thursday rolls around and you still haven't been accepted. I got really sad and ended up having a movie night all by myself, haha. I woke up the next morning and was very pleasantly surprised. Just keep your chin up!
