The application process has just gotten under way for UTMB spring admission. Has anyone taken the TEAS tests? Any helpful hints on getting a high score?
Hi Everyone! My name is Sam and I am in the process of applying to the 2014 Spring semester as well. I was wondering, does anybody know if it makes a difference that I already have a BS in biology, with minors in chemistry and psychology? My gpa is pretty low (a little over a 3.2) but I am really hoping that they will look at how hard my course load was, with all of my advanced chemistry and biology courses, and take that into consideration. I haven't taken the TEAS V test yet, I am signed up to take it towards the end of June. I am really excited about applying to UTMB and hope to get to know everybody a little better through this site!
Hi Sam! I also signed up to take the teas v towards the end of june. As far as your question about having a BS in biology and minors in chemistry and psychology, I believe I read that having a degree in other courses does not matter. They look at each applicant with or without a previous degree the same equally. Of course having a degree can be very helpful but I dont think UTMB gives a leg up to those who have a degree compared to those without a degree. I do believe that they will look at your courseload and maybe in your personal statement you can explain that in there as well.
No word yet! I know it's way too soon =( probably another month or two… But I did sign onto mystar and my application status is "complete". So hopefully I will log on in a few weeks and it will say "admitted" and then I will get a really exciting email or something! lol
Hi Hallie,
Thanks for posting an update! I'm sure that you will here something very soon, I remember at the information session the speaker mentioning early acceptance and I know for sure your teas scores qualifies you for it. I'm not sure what the GPA requirements were though. Please let us know when you hear something! Good luck!
Hey Hallie,
Thanks for updating us! I am definitely positive you will be accepted especially since your TEAS V score was high. Im retaking it on June 27th but my thing is, do you think I should just go ahead and sumbit my application before putting my new TEAS V scores in if I am done with the personal statement? or just wait until after I retake the TEAS V on june 27th? Also they haven't recived one of my transcripts and I see no GPA calculations yet...Im not sure what to do
Thanks for the happy thoughts guys! I need the good vibes =]
Martha, I don't remember hearing anything about early acceptance when I went to an info session a while back. What is that all about?
Lisa, when I met with Mrs. ****** at UTMB she said I could submit my application without all the transcripts being received by Nursing CAS. When they receive them, they will get sent to UTMB. I don't think you need to have your TEAS completed before you submit the application because when you take the test, the scores are automatically sent electronically to UTMB. Even though it has only been a few weeks since I submitted the app on NursingCAS I kind of forget whether or not theres a tab for your TEAS lol…Anyways, if your statement is done I would submit the application and then take the TEAS again if you're trying for a better score. Good luck!
Hello Everyone!
I finally decided to embrace the pain, blood, and restlessness with you guys as we go through this journey.
I been stalking these forums for a couple of weeks now, constantly reviewing the current and previous semester threads, hoping to get a general idea of how well I needed to perform for the TEAS V and my overall gpa to be admitted at UTMB.
I just finished my TEAS V exam this morning and did fairly well. Now that I've gone through with one of the hardest parts of the admission process, I feel as if reading through this forums helped me out quite a bit. So, I want to say thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences and also offer to the people who have yet to take the TEAS V another opinion/tips before the deadline soon!
Cheers!
